Here's an example: If you join the Marine Corps tomorrow, and I have already been in for a few years, I'd call you a boot. Are you a lot older than me? Yup. I learned the name "greenhorn" from the Discovery Channel's show about fishing for King Crab up in Alaska. Greenhorn means a lack of experience w/ something.
