it is true you will lose fat MUCH faster if you stop drinking entirely
Yes, it is true that if you reduce your caloric intake, you are apt to lose weight more quickly. :)

lol if you quit drinking, do you go & eat extra to make up for the calories? You're missing the point.

Plus beer usually has over 100 calories in 1....and most people like to drink 5 or 6 so that is a HUGE amount of calories that you can just cut out of your diet, "beer belly" is a myth...you gain that extra weight because once alcohol hits your stomach your body stops burning everything and just burns that alcohol off, thus triggering fat storage....so I would suggest cardio and then some cardio and then maaaaybe...some more cardio

you didint understand what i was saying

^^ I'll bet you he did.

That alchool either causes fat storage or that alchohol caloires are mostly stored as fat has been replaced with the new theory that alcohol cause a short term reduction in the amount of fat burned as fuel.

What alchol does or doesn't do metabolically at any one time is not direct evidence for what will happen in terms of an entire weightloss regimen, nutrition plan.

The point ROSS was trying to make is that people don't stop drinking beer and replace all the calories with sundaes. Any effect that stopping or reducing alcohol has on weightloss is nothing more than a supposition. The only thing you can say for sure is that you are taking in less calories overall...and what's more less empty calories.

I'm sure somebody will quote Lyle Macdonald to me, or some other PubMed scourer. Fatloss has become nothing more than a collection of facts, webernet wise. It's like trivial pursuit, lol.

The question is not whether the little facts are correct but whether they really matter in the big picture.

Pirate 12-29-2009 04:54 PM

Who the fuck is Lyle Mcdonald? And I agree with you 100% eric.

EricT 12-29-2009 09:09 PM

LOL, that's how I keep myself in check, Pirate. I just remember that for every person that listens to me there are 6 million who would say, "Who the fuck is that?"
