Biking?

What are everyones feelings on biking? To be completely honest I am really fucking sick of being out of shape... i do good for awhile... and then i messed up again. I have a hard time going to the gym to HIIT training on the cross-trainer because its boring... i miss running outside but my legs cramp really easy and thats de-motivating as well. I think its time I pull out the old mountain bike and start hitting that up in the mornings.... something that can be both good for me and fatloss and relaxing... being out in the morning air and having something to look at...

I figure i can make it "kind of" HIIT... pedal as hard as i can for 30.... medium pace for 30.... repeat... or maybe even just do a couple HARD paced miles a morning...

i think anything that gets you doing cardio is a good thing, if that's biking for you then you should bike

I think it's a great idea.

Thanks, Flawed. Speaking of biking I keep "planning" on starting myself. Not for cardio as much as just for the same reasons you were talking about.

If you can find some trails to go mountain biking that can be a real good workout, fun too. With the hills and long open stretches there are plenty of places to get your heart pumping then bring it back down a bit on the downhills. I mountain bike a lot as cross training when my shins are giving me problems

They actually advetised a workout with a statonary bike here on the idiot box(TV). And you are on the bike for 20 minutes.
You start of to warm up for 3 minute then you peddle for the 30 seconds fast as you can. Slow down to warm up speed for 3 minute. Do this for the 20 minutes and you are supposed to lose weight and in the mean time get fitter.

I hate all forms of cardio and it is a constant struggle for me to do it. The best cardio (for me anyway) has been sparring (either with an opponent or just beating the shit out of a heavy bag :D), rugby, and rowing machines....but needless to say, you need some form of conditioning to do those for any extended period of time hahaha. Fucking vicious cycle if you ask me, I have to do cardio in order to do my cardio (if that makes sense haha)

I used to bike quite a bit but I find it fatigues my legs if I want to get any cardio out of it, then it affects my squatting if my legs really get hit hard. I usually 'stick' to cardio that is minimal in muscular effort (elliptical, rowing machine, boxing etc.)
