Vegetarian Weight Loss
 
Hey guys!

In 2005, I got sick of being so fat and decided it was time to lose weight. By cutting calories, I dropped from 245 to about 175. I kept it off for a couple years.

About 2 years ago, I decided to stop eating meat (except fish). Since then, I've progressively gained weight. I'm back up to about 200-210 now. I've been trying for a year to lose weight by cutting calories again. I generally eat between 1200-1400 calories a day. Regardless, I am continuing to gain weight.

Here's a typical days worth of meals:

Breakfast - 2 waffles, glass of orange juice

Lunch - Lean cuisine

Dinner - Fish, steamed veggies, potato

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what I should be eating to make my body lose weight?

Alright, I've changed up my diet a bit. What do you guys think?

Breakfast: 2 eggs and english muffin

Morning snack: Banana and 1oz almonds

Lunch: Tuna wrap and 1/2 cup carrots

Afternoon snack: 1 oz almonds

Dinner: Kidney Bean burrito on whole grain tortilla and vegetable

Evening snack: English muffin

I saw the thread before and I didn't respond, Chris, because to be honest I don't know how you could be still gaining weight on this amount of food. Whether it be just fat or muscle. I'm not saying that I don't believe you! I just don't know why.

You've got a severe deficit and if you have "dieted" to severely in the past then I could see where you might be holding on the stubborn fat but to be really putting on weight I just don't have a clue right now.

Maybe the others might have an idea. Fatloss isn't my thing anyway but it seems weird.

do you get any exercise at all?

I've had a huge decrease in the amount of exercise that I'm getting because I recently graduated and now am working an 8-5 desk job. In the last couple weeks, though, I've started to do some cardio work and also a little weight lifting. I'm trying to ease into a more disciplined exercise routine.

I'm thinking that my diet began to consist of so many more carbs that my body was storing the fat. Starting last week, I adjusted my diet to include a lot more protein and not as many carbs. I'm hoping that will help.

Thanks for your guys' input. It's a lot easier to maintain a higher protein diet when you're eating meat, haha.

haha...i agree...fish gets old after awhile :) definitely keeping the protein high should help...
