Default buddies fat loss problems...

so...both me and fitday came up with 3000 calories for maintenance for him. so i we decided to start out at 2600 calories and see how that went...he's on the treadmill 3-4 times a week...for i believe around 30-45 minutes....keeping the heart rate in the target zone.

so it's been a week and a half....protein levels were way low when he started out...and it's going up...almost to one gram/lb body weight. carbs were way up...and they are coming down. but he has not hit 2600 calories once...i think 2300 was the closest he got. been doing good on keeping everything wheat...pasta...bread...brown rice. eating chicken and turkey...ham...and roast beef for meats. he refuses to eat fish....or oatmeal...i did convince him to buy fish oil though. eating five meals a day. cottage cheese...peanuts...and plenty of veg and some fruit.

he weighed today...has not lost anything. so kinda frustrated...

i explained hey...it took you eight years to get to this weight...it's gonna take some time...

so besides not eating enough calories...any tips?

You need to weigh in more than once and keep as many things constant as possible (ie. time of day, food before weighing, clothing worn, etc.). Get him to weigh in everyday (or everyday he does cardio) and see how/if it varies.

I would give it a bit more time. You've got cardio 3-4 times a week and since he's a week and a half in, thats only like 4-6 sessions on the treadmill. If he's eating less than maintenance, weightloss should occur. Unless your maintenance is high.

Deadlift:365 [1x3]
A2G Squat:275 [1x3]

I wouldn't weigh in every day.It will just discourage him and since really if he loses 1lb a week that's good. Unless he doesn't care about keeping any size and wants to drop 5lbs a week which IMO is too much. Patience is the key to success

How much Fish oil is he taking in ? Should try form 10-15g and count that in fitday, since it is calories.

How has your buddy progressed?

Does he weight train too or just cardio? As for cardio maybe throw in some HIIT sessions...he'll get better results. If he hasn't lost anything in over a week...I'm thinking his calories are still off. What's his macro breakdown look like?

he lost over 40 pounds...down to around 170...and he's pretty happy where he's at now, so he's just continuing to eat healthy and not be anal

and i did get him doing some HIIT. he had to get in a little more shape first
