I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

Well thanks for the encouragement. Looks like I'm gonna switch to HIIT training though. Sounds like I'll have to hit up the indoor track after school. Any problem with doing your HIIT on the same day as weight training with about 1-2 hr break in between?

Are you sucking in? If not, you definately dont have a gut. And your trying to cut? If i was you i would definately be trying to bulk right now, unless thats as big/strong as you ever want to be.

If your trying to cut, the cardio should probably be done right after you workout, as your glycogen stores are really low then. If you decide to switch to bulking, the cardio should be done on opposite days as workouts as it makes it just that much harder for the body to get in calories to build muscle.

If he was doing solid state long duration cardio I would agree, but if you pound away at the wieghts, then try and do HIIT your not gonna get much out of it. you'll be dog tired after one or two sprints.

I agree the kid should be bulking, if you lose anymore wieght your gonna look like a cancer patient, but if thats what you want, split up your cardio and lifting by more then a few yours, i'd do sprints in the morning, then lift at night.

I'm going to mexico in feb! Thats why I'm tryin to get the 6-pack, I know I'm not huge but it'll definately be better then being a fat mess if I were bulking. I'm going to bulk starting as soon as I get back most likely. I'm gonna weight train today and then I have a class where I can eat and restore the old energy stocks then I'm gonna try and do some HIIT after that. I'll tell you how it goes.

Doesn't alway work that way man, If your bulking you want to eat as clean as you can, that way your bf will be in check....now if you went and ate cheesecake all day, well then that's what you would become.......Not saying that I don't like (or eat) cheesecake.

Do you really think I could lose fat AND gain mass? I dont' think it'd be very effective.

Yes, especially since more muscle would make you appear to have less bodyfat.
