Default The new guy checking in

Hi all, FNG here.

I'm a 30 yr old trying to get back into decent shape. Spent the past 7 years or so mostly riding a desk and eating junk food.

I was 175 lbs at 6'. I got up to 245 or so. I am down to about 215. Just started lifting weights on top of watching my diet and doing some cardio stuff. I'm looking for some advice for rapid (& healthy) fat-burning and how I should go about training for a more cut appearance. I am trying to do low weight, high reps but I've been a little suprised & disappointed at how weak my chest and arms seem to have gotten when it comes to presses. I can only repetively press about 1/2 of what I could when I was working out with weights daily. Is that a normal change over 7 years of little or no training? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Dan

Welcome to the board.
You may want to consider a CKD diet. It will lean you out without you losing muscle.

I think it is normal for people to lose a significant amount of strength over 7 years of riding a desk. As far as "half", that depends on what you where doing.

*uncalled for cheap-shot removed*

I'd like to apologize to Taurus for taking a cheap-shot at him. It was done out of fun but it was not taken as such. This is the wrong forum to do that in and I again apologize.
