| ok sense ive been bulking ive lost the last 2 of my abs but i always considered that an 8 pack... and now i consider this a 6,... but 2 of my friends say the first ones below the pecs are my rib cage? idk whos right i always thought if you could flex it, then its a muscle so i considered it an ab... whos correct and heres a pic so u can see to ![]() |

Gender: | The upper part that your friends say is your rib cage is the upper part of the rectus abdominus, i.e. it's insertion point which is the cartiliges of the fifth, sixth, and seventh ribs, called the costal cartilages 5-7. It's supposed to connect also to the xyphoid process which is part of the sternum but I'm not sure if this is always the case or just a variation. So, in other words, your sternum and ribcage is under there but you are right and your friends are wrong. Some people just have more or less separation up there. |
