The reason Brock was such an arrogant asshole at the weigh-ins is because Dana told him to be. Think about it. Brock was an arrogant asshole in the WWE, now fans of WWE see that he is switching over to UFC and still being a jerk. They want to see if he can back up his talk. Its all about creating a bigger fan base and making more $$$. On the UFC All Access, I saw that Brock seemed like an easy guy to get along with. His attitude is all about bring in more fans and part of being a fighter is having some arrogance. Can't let the other guy punk you out.
Brock will have another chance. I too believe he will be a monster when he gets through some more training. |

http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?pn=2&fa=MultiMedia.video Not only that but some of the clips of him befor the fight he is joking around about his BJJ skills. Far from arrogant. I've also watched some WWE and Brock switched back and forth from good to bad like 4 times. |
brock beat the shit out of that guy and only lost because he was careless and inexperienced.
if they fought another 100 times brock would destroy him every time, the guy would be lucky to survive another fight. he cant even compare to brock all he could do was hope to get lucky n brock get careless. The guy curled up in a fetile position well brock pounded on him n was hoping to get lucky and did cuz of the inexperience To say he won the fight is ridiculous Brock gave it to him but in my mind brock really won, look at the other guys face. Only part of brock's body that might hurt is his fists from pounding on the guys face |
Yeah that's what happened.. Mir had no idea what he was doing, just got lucky.. He had no idea brock was out of control and to cover himself till he was done wasting hammer punches.. You know everyone wins and everyone loses... Bottom line lesnar lost to a more experienced fighter.. ANd without the element suprise.. aka the bull rush... He's gonna have to develope his mma skills.. Not to say he won't be great.. But I'm sticking up for Mir.. It all boils down to experience vs. brute strength... He won one fight and though he was bad and totally underestimated Mir, as did a lot of people....

^^^This disrespect of Mir is getting ridiuculous. Like Enorris said those hammer punches were doing shit. How many fights have I seen where some guy almost gets stoppage and then comes back to win the fight...often times by submission? The only difference is it's two guys with great skill and it's a chess game from beginning til the end so that both fighters get due respect. But as soon as you put in a huge beast relying on brute force...Mir got "lucky". It's bullshit. Like Enorris said the hammer punches were not doing much. If you want to call it luck that Lesnar fucked up, fine, but it ain't luck that caused Mir to be able to take advantage of it. Without the experience the "luck" wouldn't have meant shit. Show some respect and give due credit to a guy who deserves it. That shit ain't right. Mir was never out of control, Lesnar was.
To me it's just talking shit. Mir may have turned away. But there was not stoppage and he took advantage and won. I might guess there could be some kid disrespecting Mir who would have instead curled up and cried like a baby under all those little hammer fists. Give me a break. |
^^I agree. Mir was taking a bit of a beating but only momentarily. Brock was swinging wildly and I think it was the only intelligent thing for Mir to do (curl up and try to defend as much of his body at once). In the end, like was said earlier, the luck aspect was Mir's experience. He knew the foot was open and the knee bar was an option. Plain and simple, Mir got the W and Lesnar got the L. However I do think that Brock will be a great fighter, he just needs to learn to control his ragelike style and fight smarter.

i wish there was an edit button cuz i wanted to add to my first post how i am more of a fan of hitting/boxing than i am the holds/tapping out

If you ever get a chance to hear Mir talk about strategies in MMA, the guy is very smart and knew exactly what to train for and to stay calm under pressure... That is a sign of a true fighter and a champ. |
I actually missed the part about the face damage. I don't have Dave's expertise and experience with MMA but I do have experience with getting punched in the face. "Damage" in the form of cuts and brusing, many times, looks worse than it is. Lots worse. You can cut a guy from a grazing blow that doesn't really hurt, for instance.
I'm I right on this, Dave? It was my sense that Mir was always completely aware of what he was doing. As Ennoris, Kane, and Dave, have pointed out. |

Hell, I've gotten kneed in the face and had to get stiches and it didn't hurt as much as I thought it was going to. |
