Default Acceptable fat gain while bulking ?

Last year I lost about 12 kg after going on a bulk and putting on way too much fat. Now I'm bulking again, but trying to be smarter about it, eating mainly clean foods. One month in and I'm up 3 kg and about an inch on the waist (I'm at about 33.25). Now I think I'm gaining a little fast. An inch on the waist per 3kg. Now I don't give a shit about abs but I don't want my gut to blow out to the 39" I was before I lost the weight, when I was snoring my head off and couldn't even stretch properly because of my gut.

What do you think is an acceptable gain on the waist per kg ?

You're gonna suffer from "analysis paralysis" which seems to happen A LOT in this sport. You need to broaden your line of thinking to what's acceptable to YOU. Most usually prefer something around 15% on the high end before pulling back on the reigns. Natural lifters are perfect year around in the 10-12% range.

I know what you mean about over analyzing. I don't think I am. I train hard and eat well. This is just something I'd like a bit of guidance in. I'm 31 years old and I think the fat goes on a hell of a lot easier than it did 10 years ago. I don't want to do this wrong again.

How much weight do you bulkers put on say per week or month. Do you measure your waists or get bodyfat tested regularly to see if the majority of your weight gain is muscle ?

I think I'll cut down on my eating a bit, probably cut out some carbs and try to gain maybe only 1 kg a month or so.

I must say though, since I started eating a lot I've easily passed the weight I was using for all movements that I was busting my ass trying to beat while dieting. It's amazing the difference a bit of food makes.

When I'm on a serious bulk, I will aim for a lb a week..or maybe a little less. If you're eating as clean as you can, then you won't be putting on absurd amounts of fat. Just keep track of your calories on fitday. That will be the best indicator of how you're doing. (aside from ripping the ass out of your pants when you bend over )
