I don't know about digestion rates, but red meats tend to have higher calories than poultry or fish because of a higher amount of fats mixed in with the protein. it's easier to bulk with red meats IMO because of this as long as you don't go overboard. lots of the fats from the red meats are used to make testosterone, but eat too much and the unused fats get stored all over. |

| Red meat is a rich source of arachidonic acid, which is instrumental for muscle growth. It is also an inflamitory agent, which can cause joint pain in mass amounts, as well as other side effects. I would say moderation is key, I would have red meat as your main protien source, nor would I exclude it completely from your diet. |
