Ross, I honestly don't know. I just know that it doesn't work as well with them. Pity, I wouldn't sweat it that much.

I asked my ex, who is a pharmacist, and she told me that it wouldn't be absorbed...it would almost definitely be passed within 9 hours.

You mean the time-release, Ross? If so, I've never bought into that. I kinda always thought it was just marketing. The whole idea of them is completely ridiculous. You diet is supposed to be the major source of your nutrients and that is naturally "time released". So there is most definitely no need to pay extra for a supplement that claims "time-released". Just marketing bullshit.

The biggest problem with multi-vitamins and minerals, the way I see it, is people questioning whether they "work". Absolutely not what they are meant for. They are just insurance and EXTRA vitamins don't make chemical reactions any more effiecient in you body. When people say their vitamin "works" I have NO IDEA what they mean by that. Unless you have the severe symptoms of a certain deficiency you would have no way of judging wheter a vitamin sup worked. Placebo effect if nothing else.

And if you do have a deficiency almost any cheap ass vitamin you get to augment you diet would almost immediately reverse that deficiency unless you have a problem preventing absorption or something of that nature. And even then the mega doses in oral sups can make up for that because....it doesn't take that much. There are SOME conditions that require medical help but the short of it is that most over the counter vit/minerals "work".

I agree.. It's funny how people don't know shit. I've sold thousands of dollars worth of vitamins to people. A guy came in the other day looking for a "hardcore vitamin" that would keep him up and give him all kinds of energy because he was used to the other illegal stuff (meth) and wanted to know if GNC sold something similar... And so often people say they don't want vitamins because they've tried them before and they didn't "work", like you said. It's a gigantic misconception that companies make a killing off of. The products that I sell the least of are typically the best products in the store. And the placebo effect...that's what most people get out of what they buy. And the pat on the back they give themselves for looking after their health.

I did mean time release by the way.

That's cool. Makes me feel good I never bought them. Actually I got a vitamin C once that turned out to be "time-release" but I didn't realize it. So I crushed those mothers up cuz I didn't trust them

That's funny. A lot of people come in and buy Melatonin. They normally get 3mg TR. Apparently it breaks apart SLOWLY. Because a lot of people don't think it works. But the 1mg sublingual tends to knock people out, from what I've heard. I have taken the 3mg time release and I can't tell that I took anything. I might start cutting my vitamins in half.

Suspicious .

Actually I have an example to sort of cut through some of the time-release bullshit. The water soluble vitamins are the one that are mostly marketed in time release formulas. What they are marketing on is the idea that these vits are not stored. Course that is not entirely true. If you take an excess, some small reserves are stored in the liver and elsewhere temporarily. And then if you have a varied diet you are getting frequent infusions..

But if you look at vitamin C that is one of the common ones sold as time-release. Now there are a lot of good reasons to take extra vitamin C, although the 1000 mgs a day thing is ridiculous. But say you had NO vitamin C in your diet and you wanted to prevent scurvy. Well, 10 mgs a day would do that and you would only have to take it ONCE a day.

Yeah, I almost mentioned that also. There are so many people that come in and buy tons of vitamin C. I know a LOT of people that take 3-4g/day.
