Default eating more meals

I'm trying to incorporate more meals into my day, but I really dont have the time to actually make a full meal. Will taking in whey protein in place of a meal have the same effect? And how much would I need to take at each "meal" in order to get the same results as having actual food?
Thanks

as long as its milk protein and not whey. and anywhere from 30-60grams of protein with fruit or something will be fine but I can't give you a very specific answer because I dont' know what you eat now or goals or anything so what are your stats and goals.

well I'm 6' tall, 180 lbs, 13% body fat. My goal isnt really to lose a lot of fat because track season starts in a couple days for me (senior in high school), so that wont be a problem since I'll be getting plenty of cardio every day. My main goal is to gain muscle mass, probably 30-40 lbs over period of time.
Also, why milk protein as opposed to whey?

milk protein or sometimes known as casein digests slower then whey. therefore it will give a prolonged intake of the protein as opposed to absorbing protein all at once and not using it as efficiently. Whey is better after a workout because your body is depleted and needs the quickness of whey.

You can preprepare your meals the night before. It just takes planning. How about a can of tuna and a can opeaner.
