| I get a news letter from another site that sent out a warning about the use of any/all plastics in microwave ovens when cooking or reheating foods or liquids. Recent findings at the John Hopkins University revealed that DIOXINS are released from plastics (even the micro-wave safe ones) when microwaved. They are also released from water bottles that have been filled with water and then frozen for exercise use - running, jogging, etc. The university advises using nothing but glasswares such as PYREX or ceramics in the microwave. Microwave ovens themselves suck anyway, but thats another story. Last edited by Taurus; 04-15-2005 at 07:09 PM. Reason: why not |

Gender: | The report is several years old. I wouldn't be concerned about #1 water bottles but I would not cook in plastic. Actually the toxcisity of plastic is one of the biggest kept secrets out there. Problem is it's in everthing. :( |
