as we were talkin he was telling me that ronnie coleman injects himself with insulin and has sort have purposely made himself a diabetic.

how does that work to make a body builder get like that. im just curious.

Well diabetes is a resistance to insulin... When we eat a lot of sugar our body dumps insulin which tries to lower our blood sugar levels by forcing the sugar into cells to be converted for use as an energy source. Over time our body can become less responsive to the insulin thus requiring larger doses. Considering people can develop an insulin resistance naturally. By injecting one's self with insulin (adding additional insulin) they could desensitize themselves too the amounts of insulin they produce naturally..

I've heard of BB's taking a shot of insulin before going on stage.... Does the influx of sugar into the cells cause a muscle pump? Why do they do this and how does it work? Just curious. And why would you do it on a regular basis as mentioned above?

insulin pushes glucose into muscles which causes them to pull in water as well... the result is a short term visual trick that makes the muscles fuller while reducing subcutaenous water. makes them look bigger/leaner on stage.

just b/c someone uses insulin doesn't turn them into a diabetic...

Thats true, but insulin isnt muscle specific, I believe it also facilitates glucose uptake into fat cells.
