either way, no it wont hinder your gains. Some say it causes a raise in estrogen, but the only study i've seen confirming that is in pre pubesant kids, so you wont have any issues with that. As long as your not stuffing your face constantly because of it (or if you need to be, then go to it) you will be ok bro.

It dose cause a raise in estrogen and if you talk to your doctor about it he will prescribe you a blocker....

Maybe it wont prevent you to grow, but anything you put in your lungs is bad (Im not against it, as I have done my share) Mentally if you are still able to eat, sleep and train then whatever!

TALO's Sig:"But when do you actually grow? Well, we don't grow in the gym. In the gym, we destroy. We tear down the body. We only grow when we are recovering. That's right, I said recovery. I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

Sorry, but to me this whole thing with people coming on and asking "permission" to drink or smoke is childish. You want to smoke pot or drink then it's for you to decide how much and how often. Take responsibility for your own shit. Lots of people smoke some weed occasionally or drink a little but if your need for it is so great that you would question whether it would halt your gains then to me it is assinine to expect other adults to tell you whether it is ok like you are a 5 year old.

I don't see how other people can tell if something like this is good or bad for you anymore than they can tell you whether you should hold your ass over a candle flame. Is it good for you? No. Will you get burned? Maybe, maybe not, depends on you.

^^^OHHHH.....im sorry i asked if smoking would keep me from growing.....since i knew it raised estrogen<---sarcasm.....im not asking permission to smoke dipshit, im asking if the THC in weed would have any sides such as raised estrogen. If you dont like when ppl ask about stuff like drinking and smoking dont read them, its that easy. Posting a reply stating that its childish and getting all pissy b/c its not something you agree with is also childish. If you dont agree with smoking thats fine...i dont think anyone really cares if you think its childish or not, so a reply like that is not only wasting your time, its wasting everyone who reads it time. So thanks for killing 5 minutes of my life.

LOL, dude I don't care about drinking and smoking. And watch your language. I wasn't only referring to your post but all the post in general. Your post was called "is it ok" after all. There are many ways something can impact your growth besides estrogen which you never mentioned in your original post. That was my point. It is up to you whether you smoke or drink enough to impact you in the gym. If you want to pretend you were asking an academic question then fine. But you asked "will it keep him from growing In ANY way"...no one can answer that. So did you want an honest answer which you got from me or did you want people to give you an answer based on speculation about estrogen. I drink some. I smoke some. Sometimes. If I do it enough it will impact my gains.

I didn't chew you out and jump on you. I gave you a very straight and pointed answer based on the fact that I've had a few years to put drinking and smoking in perspective. I will read and reply to anything I see fit and I will give the answer I see fit to give. If I think something is childish and that a little perspective might help someone I will say so. If you think that is childish then I'm fine with that but I think you can say it without throwing a fit.

Eric I gotta agree with Ranger on this one...I dont feel like he came on here asking for permission. Sounded to me like he just wanted to get an idea on how it would effect him from growing in the gym. I learned a little bit from the responses to this question and since I havent seen it asked several times I consider it a valid question. You probably are just sick of seeing it asked over and over again. I feel that way about alcohol...seems pretty obvious that it is anti-productive to the bodybuilding lifestyle, but people want to keep asking about it till the answer changes?

It's not that I'm sick of it. It's that nobody can tell any one indivdual how much their drinking or smoking will affect them. When I see it it seems to me that they have doubts and are looking for validation. My response is designed to point out that this sort of validation is up to the individual. We already know that drinking and smoking is not "good for you".

You guys got to realize, before you get all pissed at me that I've got quite a few years on lots of you. And I had my partying days to the degree you can't imagine. I am not judging. I just put these questions behind me years ago and it would have helped me for someone to say the very same things I am saying.

But the answer is going to remain the same. You drink enough or smoke enough and it's going to impact you. In some way. Hell, haven't you guys ever known any pot burnouts? They don't hit the gym, lol. I think that will affect you gains, you know, sitting on the couch, passing bong, whatching cartoons and not working out. Estrogen be damned.

So maybe my answer would have been more effective if I had said this. If you smoke enough that it gives you doubts about gains in the gym that may be enough to give yourself permission to cut back. It's a general kind of thing. If you were to come on here and say I smoke a joint once a week or once every couple weeks I'd be saying shit, don't worry about it.

Hell, I'd smoke just to increase my appetite once in a while since it sucks.
