| I'm sure alot of you all know this already but i found out that a 10 oz. can of tuna has more protein in it than most protein shakes. about 50 grams! if you figure the math for the price of tuna vs. the shakes you really aren't saving that much unless you sam's club. but if you run out of shakes theres another good reserve thats easy to carry. |

| Rank: Member | I agree vex, tuna is a great source of protein and with the invent of the new packets for tuna, it's made it very convenient. I'll have a packet of tuna and a packet of mayo, squirt the mayo in there, mix it up, and eat! How easy is that! I think about the only problem (and the jury is still out on this) is the alleged high mercury levels in fish. This has kinda scared me to cut back on the consumption of tuna. But, I don't know if this is just one of those scare tactics brought about by our beloved media. I still have about 4-6 serv. per week of this stuff, and I haven't had problems just yet. Good post vex, I know the vets know about tuna's nutritional profile, but there's alway new people reading the boards, that are new to bodybuilding also and can benefit from this info. Thank you vex! |

The advantage to the shakes is convenience. Easy to slam down inbetween meals for the extra protein and pre and post workout. Keep in mind shakes are not meals, they are a supplement. |

Solid albacore usually is hard and dry and best mixed with mayo. Also, always be wary of the labels. Most of the specials in the stores are for the tuna in oil, which isn't good straight from the can. Use the ones in water. |
