One egg in a year ain't bad for that 1:50th person lol.. Especially if he's not elderly, a child, or has a weakened immune system. That was my specific reason for posting it. I wondered how many also do this aside from Sylvester Stallone lol.

Yeah, I got that part. The reason why I have been doing it for so long is due to time restraints.. I can't speak for everyone else who does it.

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/disea.../salment_g.htm

Yeah, here is the CDC page on that for others who want to see.

But salmonella not being a big deal if you are healthy is only true for young healthy adults like you pointed out. No where in that article did he say "don't give it your young child or infant". Or that if your are elderly it could kill you. That just bothers me. He used these big numbers numbers to make it seem less than it is. Yes he mentioned the CDC but he could have used the CDC estimate but instead he stayed clear of that in order to make his point. That ain't responsible journalism since most people, as he well knows, will take it at face value. But people should know that food poisoning is dangersous and more dangerous for some than others. The very young and very old as you pointed out. But like I said, I don't care too much about the salmonella angle except for the slapdash reporting of it.

From a bodybuilding standpoint it just ain't great is all.

Now, my question is if the eggs become more bioavailable if they're in a protein shake w/ a few ingredients? I read the entire study from the web, and they used 25 grams of raw egg on an empty stomach.

I agree.. I went searching all over the web with various ways of wording it and more often than not, there's at least 5 totally different websites that cite said author's article..

I don't think that would make a difference.

I agree with being bothered about reading HALF the story. I also agree with people that are reading about this topic SHOULD be made aware. That's why I said that his work is cited all over just about every website.

That's what I thought you were referring to. It's a big problem with the web. People use sources of sources of sources without ever checking the sources, lol.

Now, since you read the study did you see the point about how even cooked egg white is not totally efficient and of course raw is worse but the stuff left over from it such as the metabolites of fermentation (why some people get gas and bloating from raw eggs) could be very bad for you? The point being that we already eat a high protein diet which leaves a lot of stuff sitting around in the gut to cause harm (keep the fiber coming) but basically making it to where MORE stuff is sitting around fermenting....not a good idea in my book.

I know, I know. "It hasn't caused me a problem". Well you know things like colon cancers are something older people usually get. But it starts by their habits over a lifetime.

That could be a million things that we do or do not know. You could be breathing in cancer causing agents as you're typing this and never know. But I see what you're trying to say.

I know I haven't said this but I don't throw down 10 eggs in a sitting and call it a meal by any means. Every morning and night I'll make my milk isolate shake (2 scoops) w/ 5 whole eggs, and some other ingredients and call it a meal. So if I digest half of the egg (15 grams out of 30), I'm good to go! Better that then waking up earlier or taking the time to cook.. Which is IMHO why most people decide to go this route.

Morning: Just before I leave for work.

2 scoops milk isolate
Handfull of frozen berries
5 whole eggs
2 tsp metamucil

Before Bed:

2 scoops milk isolate
5 whole eggs
2 tsp metamucil

Yeah, I'd venture to say 450 grams of protein on training days will have a little leftover.

More power to ya. Just don't list it under the heath tonic section if we get one

Nah, I'm more interested in just countering the article and the supposed "health benefits" of it rather than convincing anyone not to eat them. Mercola has a habit of pulling up research from by-gone eras. Like say 1939. I like it a little better when he at least gets as modern as the mid 70's

The FDA spanked him in 2005 for making illegal claims. Too bad that the rampant "conpiracy" theory of health will actually make that an indorsement for him.
