That would be of use if you were already getting pretty much enough whole protein. Otherwise your talking extra grams of three aminos. Important ones no doubt but won't replace missing protein in general in your diet. You may as well use shakes in that case, imo. I like BCAA's and everything but you seem to be saying they'll take the place of protein in your diet. Doesn't make any sense to me.

You take in a huge amount of leucine sure it's not a bad idea but what your mostly going to see is a big rise in leucine levels quckly and then a whole lot of oxidation of leucine. No replacements for whole proteins. If I was really having trouble getting enough food in, failing on protein I would probably add casein and egg shakes before I'd bother with all those bcaa's. Of course you should be going for whole food but....

BCAA's or any other aminos should be viewed as something extra, never as something to take the place of. That is, if you want to be big and strong.

what I ment was something a little more like this eric, lets say its lunchtime:

One can tuna
two slices whole wheat toast
some spicy mustard
some celery or other greens
12g bcaa's in a low/no cal drink

I figure, you gotta drink your water anyway, so give it a little flavoring like Crystal Light, then throw in some bcaa's to sneak in some extra amino/protien. IMO you cant go wrong with bcaa's, and doing it like that will be a little more tolerable then trying to throw back a whey shake after tuna/chicken/fish or just when your already full.

I didnt mean to imply that they should take the place of anything, rather they should be added to or "suppliment" the whole foods already being taken in.

Any way you say it it's not as good as whole protein. I have thrown back many a shake after a meal like that. Hell I have to force most of my food down my gullet anyway. Lot's of people do. BCAA's sound like and expensive way of doing something less effective than more whole proteins in the form of shakes. Not that I am advocation shakes, etc., so on. I'm just telling you straight up that if your going throw down a sup shake after a meal then whey, casein, etc. is going to be a more effective way.

12 grams of bcaa vs. 25 to 30 grams of whey? That's a no brainer to me.

I see what your saying about the water and all that. But I can't believe that the average person can't slam a shake down. It's not like a huge thing so really I don't see the point of bcaa's for that purpose. I have the worst appetite in history. It never gets better and I can alway get down a shake. I can do a couple of double cheesburgers, two large fries and still drink a large vanilla shake afterwards, even if I feel full. I may feel sick afterward, but...if I cared about that kind of thing I wouldn't be putting my body though this.

I think you are asking a whole lot more from bcaa sups than they are really going to deliver. Anyway what it comes down to is a disagreement over which supplement would be more useful when something extra is needed. At this point Flawed needs a whole lot more food period.

Unless I am missing something, I hardly see any fat in your diet besides for the egg yolks. I would add in some healthy fats (natty pb, almonds, olive oil, flax, fish oil, etc). As long as its the healthy variety it should only benefit you, especially since you seem to be attempting to increase your cals.

Adding the fat to your protein shakes or other meals will also slow down protein absorbtion.

Good point sleazy, almonds are the shit.

To each his own eric, no real point in arguing it. IMO superdosing BCAA's (50+ grams a day) while bulking is always a good idea if you can afford it. For me I usually throw as many grams as I can in my gallon water jug and get a steady flow all day while i'm drinkin.

either way you are correct, there needs to be a lot more food consumed flawd. Get at those calorie dense foods homie.

^^^^lol, then case closed, Flawed is having budget problems according to his other thread

However, the reason I ague it is because I like to argue.

No, just kidding. The reason I argue it is because I believe my way will work better. Isn't that why we all disagree? However, if your talking about superdosing BCAA's in addtion to all the protein you NEED. Oh, hell, why not, I doubt it's gonna hurt! But some regular old fashioned shakes won't hurt either in that case.
