Bulking Question

Something that's been itching my brain for a while:

"To start a bulk: add 500 to total calories, to maintain bulk: add 200-300 to total calories depending on weight gained each week"

Is that meaning add 200-300 more calories PER WEEK? Or am I greatly misinterpreting this?

Haha I have no idea what that means either. I would just go about 300 calories over maintenance and not increase that number unless I stop gaining weight.

Its just about finding equilibrium and slightly increasing calories over that.

Thats what I do, I know exaclty how much to eat to maintain and how much I need to eat to gain.

I just gained 15 lbs in 5 weeks. And I have no idea how I did it. Plus: I still look sexy as hell :biglaugh:

If Pity comes in here and says all I eat is ice-cream I'm gonna kill him :006:

:D

Haha that wouldn't be true. All you want to eat is ice cream. :D

What that means is when you are first starting your bulk begin by adding 500 calories to your normal caloric intake. As you start gaining weight your caloric intake will of course have to adjust in order to continue gaining, so once you stop gaining that is when you add another 200-300 calories. If you are still not gaining then you add in some more, the trick is not to make huge leaps in caloric intake but to measure and slowly adjust over time.

Like Slayer said its all about finding that equilibrium and then slowly adjusting.

I believe that number is referring to adding that much to your *daily* total intake. Not weekly.

I agree, the 200-300 calories should be added to your daily caloric intake and then you make adjustments on a weekly basis if needed. The way they wrote the article is confusing.

it is daily intake, gradually build up to 500 extra calories daily
