I've decided to start a log of what I eat, and I wanted to know if you all count net carbs such as the atkins diet subtracting the sugar alcohols and dietary fiber, or count the total carbs. I am cutting at this time and am working towards a 40/20/40 of pro/carbs/fat, so I would like anyone's input.

it's mostly total carbs, but there's also other factors to consider such as when you eat the carbs, complex vs. simple carbs, carbs in the high GI range vs. low GI range, etc.
Your best bet is to read the stickies pertaining to cutting in the fatloss section of this site and researching everywhere else in nutrition books written by sports nutritionists and/or bodybuilders.
I'm going to be cutting, too, in about two weeks, but using SciVation's Game Over Cut Diet 2.0 (Sleazy used this program, version 1.0 a while back and said he had lots of success on it)
