carbs and what to count

OK, my first question. I'm trying to cut for the summer like most people that have put on weight from bulking, and I have a question about carbs and fiber. do you guys count fiber, count half, none? and what about soluble and insoluble fibers. I've read form the FDA that people should eat about 25-35 grams of fiber a day. and spanned in about 7 meals its about 6-7grams a meal... should I count that in my carbs or should I only do the "net carb" thing.. thanks ahead of time for your info..

I wouldnt rely on the net carb thing. never made sense to me. I dont count fiber at all in my diet, but i am sparing with it. some people eat all the veggies they want, i limit it to a few times a day. I dont trust what the FDA says is healthy, so thier daily values are usless.

Everything in moderation, except protien hahahha.

I generally count everything unless I'm doing a ketogenic diet, then I won't usually count the carbs from veggies or fibre because I found they really didn't affect whether I would be in ketosis or not. As well I wouldn't count my post-workout carbs because they were pretty much used instantly anyways. However I wouldn't do the net carbs for everything, I''d still count carbs from things like sugar alcohol, even though labels would say I didn't have to count them I didn't trust the labels and didn't want to risk being kicked out of ketosis. For my regular diet(non ckd) I usually just count everything towards my daily totals except veggies.

good stuff guys... glad to see there isn't any real difference in these remarks. Makes my decision a lot easier :)

The only real reason to count carbs is when you are dieting. Like the other guys said when doing a ketogenic I don't count the post drink but I do do the net carb thing on what little carbs I do take like in a veggie or something but it's still so low it really dosent matter. Whe bulking just count them as in total calories. It's more splitting hairs really.

I hate counting carbs, oh god, I gotta admit I am a carb freak. I have tried those low carb diets, but they made me feel like shit, so I just do low fat diet when cutting, I really dont think low carb is better than low fat in the long run, may be for short term changes it might help. Think about it this way, even if all the carbs that I eat were to turn in to fat, it would take about 2.2 grams of carbs to make 1 gram of fat calorie wise, but then the process of conversion come at an energy cost, so even if I were to do a high carb diet, I dont think I will gain no more than a gram of fat per every 4 or 5 grams of carb that I eat, I can loose that much fat just by doing curls. I know a lot of u are going to disagree with me on this, but just look at the logic behind it. After all when doctor atkins died, he was a fat mofo.
