Carbs before bed?
Ok so i'm chillin here, and I'm about to throw back some cottage cheese and have some casien(sp) before bed, and I realized there is a decent amount of carbs in there.
breakdown: fat 5g carb 5g protein 15g what do you guys think, yea or nea |
i would say yea....i dont think 5 grams of carbs would hurt you to much if its right before bed...i think the no carb before bed thing is like, dont have an excess as in 50 grams

I agree. Especially in the context you're getting it in with the protein and fat and the slow digesting nature of it. The benefits really outweigh any slight risk, and 5 grams of carbs in that context is hardly risky at all, imo.

Good to hear. Even though I ate that last night, I still woke up this morning starving. That usually doesnt happen.

BTW, there is talk about casein causing an insulin spike or something? I don't know. I really think if we think that much about every little thing we may as not eat at all! I would tend to think that waking up hungry would be a good thing. Wouldn't that mean your metabolism is running fast?

There's not enough carbs in cottage cheese to do squat. |

I'm really beating a dead horse here (:chairshot:) but you really have nothing to worry about with the carbs in cottage cheese. I personally love cottage cheese as a late night snack and eat it without any worry about the carbs in it.
In all reality, even if you were to have a scoop of ordinary protein powder you would get somewhere in the same range carbs wise. For example ON 100% Whey has 3 grams per scoop and their 100% Casein has 4 grams per scoop. Little facts like that always send me back to reality when I start worrying over tiny amounts of carbs. |
