Cooking meals ahead of time, then reheating
how many of you guys cook your meals ahead of time
so that you can just microwave it later?
i''m sure alot do.
i cook up like like 6 or so chicken breasts at a time and throw em i na container in the fridge, my question is , althoguh this is quicker, does it affect the taste at all? like, obviously food is going to taste better right when you cook it.. right?
what else do oyu guys cook and store/what else would be good to cook and store?
ive got a bunch of steaks but i dont want to cook those up ahead of time in fear of losing all that juicy flavor.
I hate re heated chicken. it tastes like ass to me. If I make chicken its at night and i cook it fresh. lean ground beef makes no diff. to me at all though, so that i prep before hand. most of my other protien is tuna, and cheeses so there is no need.
I would put the steak with the chicken, cook it, eat it and be done with it. no storing it unless its marinated and shit, that way there is still flavor when you re-heat it.
I'm a bodyguard, so most of the time I sit at a rich person's house for 12 hours, which explains why I have so many posts. My wife will cook 5-6 chicken breasts with a ton of rice and veggies. It's the best for reheating. As for steak, the longer and hotter I reheat it in the microwave, the better it is. The best thing you can do for it is to dip it in italian dressing. God that good. I also bring a huge container of cottage cheese and that counts as one meal.
your a bodygaurd. thats cool as hell bro. I always wanted to do that when i was in high school. Being that i'm a little bigger then most (not always a nececity) and been training in the martial arts since 10 yo. Not to mention my family is really big into guns and weapons of most kinds.
How is that treatin ya bro? I always wondered what my life would be like if i went that route instead of going to college an doing what i'm doing now.
This is what's great about having a wife. Also I convinced her to do the CKD with me so she cooks up some great stuff I would never even think of and I will get to bring it to work with me. Many times I will also whip up my breakfast and then eat it when I get in the office.
yeah i hear ya about the family time. I'm still a little young for a family, but i just moved about 1000 miles from my brothers and parents, its tough not having them around ... to feed me for free and stuff :D
back on topic, I find that hittin up some beef jerkey in a pinch is good for protien and getting in some solid meat that you dont have to prepare. you just gotta watch some of the flavord ones have a lot of sugars.
I pre cook mine,and my girls meals 3 times/week..Its just become second nature for me to do this...
I do cook in advance and keep it in the refrigerator, but only beef. I hate everything else reheated. Reheated coffee, um yummy.
Going through a precontest phase myself, It doesn't matter bout taste. It all tastes like ass! I cook bout 3-4lbs of chicken outside on the grill (no mess, no clean up!). I then ziploc and reheat later on. Personally, I love that chargrilled taste! And, I have no "wife" to cook for me..... I am tooo lazy right now to jazz up the meat and worry bout what it tastes like... I'm just eating to eat, no enjoyment here! It's ten times better than tuna and not as dry as red meat ( which i am currently not eating). My biggest prob with chicken is the dryness from reheating it. So, best bet is to Broil the chicken with like oniions and lots of garlic.....I also through in my veggies (broccoli, yams, green beans brussel sprouts)........put it all together in a roasting pan, cook for like 1.5hours 350' and only one dirty pan. It is super convienient and chicken is sooooo moist!
