Cous Cous for protein???
Sorry to ask another question but does anyone know if cous cous is a good source of protein to include in my diet as I seem to be eating tonnes of the stuff.
I dont eat meat so on a normal day I have the following :
Breakfast - Bran with skimmed milk, low fat yoghurt drink, Wholegrain toast and a banana.
Mid morning - Either fruit or peanut butter on wholegrain
Lunch - Tuna salald
Dinner - Grilled or baked white fish,A LARGE bowl of cous cous with chillies and fresh herbs, Either chick peas or kidney beans, Steamed broccolli.
Pre bed snack - cereal and skimmed milk
Normaly when I make cous cous for my dinner I have some left over and snack on that when I am hungry as it fills me up and I preffer it to pasta.

what are your goals with this diet?
Primarily to stay healthy and to hopefuly give my body some of what it needs to encourage some muscle growth but not too much mass at the moment....
Cous cous has a little bit of protein in it, but not much...6g per cup according to fitday.com.
1 cup of cooked couscous has 6 grams of protein. Not the most, but better than a lot of foods.

Do you not eat meat because of your beliefs, or medical condition? Have you tried soy protein? It's got a lot of the components that whey protein has, only it's not derived from animals.
i don't think it's an animal problem...cuz...fish seems to be ok.
Its more of a carb source than protein. It only has 6 grams of protein per serving as compared to the 36 grams of carbs, so it isn't anything I would want to be relying on for protein. If you are going to eat it in a meal make sure you include a main protein source with it just like you are doing with your fish.
Depending on your goals (fatloss, bulking, etc) I would be a little hesitant to eat it alone as a snack as its mainly a carb source. I would also make sure you have a main protein source in each of your meals as some of them appear to be lacking as far as protein is concerned.
