How does my consumption change if I drink x amount of coffee or x amount of beer? How many litres do I need after a hard night of studying and drinking my face off (coffee and beer)

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it at all LOL. I'm just throwing my opinion into the mix because I'd like to see some hard evidence ;)
2-3L is a basic guideline. Sure, eveyone's different. But it's something to base things off of.

Maybe I'm the only one around here that even thinks about water intake

4-5L isn't all that much IMO. I have at least 4L a day and that's not hard at all. Especially when I go through at least a L during my workout alone.

i kinda disagree with this.

soft drinks: most americans mix their soft drinks with PLENTY of ice. this ice melts into the drink and counters the dehydration potential.

coffee: most people always have cofee with some water on the side. even if they dont: coffee does have water content in it.

energy drinks: i hate them so i have nothing substantial to add here.
Every time I've been in Texas, no one was drinking water with anything. Maybe you're just in the water drinking mecca of the state or something.

As far as Americans go, I never see people drinking water with their coffee or sodas. And yes, coffee has water in it, but again, the caffeine in it can cause dehydration through diuretic properties.

Fuck, I don't even see the point in arguing this. It's water for fuck's sake. Drink it or don't. I don't care. I keep tabs on mine, as I think eveyone should. But apparently I'm the only one around here that does.

during training you need about 8oz for every 15 minutes of working out.

Typically somebody can go through .5L to even a gallon. It just depends on the person

i can drink 4 to 5 liters a day easy. it could be because im just a bigger dude. i also can drink as fast as i can pour so by the time im done taking a "sip" half the bottle is gone . but the way i see it is just subsititue like 2 of your drinks that you eat with food for water and then just make sure yuo drink some more during the course of the day and yuo should get to the amount of water you need. but IMO if you just find the middle ground for what may be alot and what you normally drink you should be aight. i personally drink as much as possible without going crazy. but thats my 2 cents

i didn't say that it's hard. i probably have 4-5 liters myself. i however don't measure it. i go by the color of my pee. if its yellow: it means i need more water. if its transparent: it means im good

I did not say that everyone has water with coffee. I said some people do. and of those who don't, a lot of people drink water before/after the coffee. this is just my observation.

IK, ma'am, i never said anything about americans and coffee you misread.

No one ever has any scientific statements to back all this up. But the water crowd sure does get pissed about it.

http://www.bodybuilding.net/suppleme...ighlight=glass

There's been maybe 4 threads on this but this one has all the stuff I've posted before. I'm not saying don't drink plenty of fluids but the copious recommendations that are popular not are just ridiculous.

I know I'm not going to change any water worshippers minds but I do likes to have actual info rather than just accepted dogma

The pee thing is meaningless. I can take a vitamin B complex and turn my pee yellow. It doesn't mean I'm dehydrated.

There is info in that thread on the caffeinated beverages thing as well.

But anyway, I don't want to start a water war, I just wanted some back up.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

lol seasame street! i know its slightly off topic but we had such better tv programs when we were kids than they do now, :-)

i love drinking water i think that from reading what everyone has said that everyone has their own opinon on what they need and what research says or doesnt say i suppose the important thing is that as long as we drink it and make sure that the amount of water we take in, in our diet is greater than sugary fizzy drinks then that can only be good. I personally only really only drink water or milk i cant drink tea or coffee and i am not a big fan of fizzy drinks.

the only thing that ever concerned me with too much water intake was watching a program on sports people who have keeled over because the amount of water they were drinking washed so much of their salts out of their body that it caused them a major problem. Again i think for most people getting enough salt in the diet isnt too much of a problem though.

anyhow i suppose long way round of saying as that as long as people are drinking plenty of water thats the main thing people will always have their own personal goal of amounts to drink and thats fine too.
