Gender: | has anyone ever noticed that all of the pictures of arnold in the encyclopedia of bodybuilding ive seen hes training with no shoes on? is there any advantage to that or something does anyone know why? |

| I know that when you have shoes on with a proper arch support you'll be able to lift more with your upper body...for some reason (alignment of spine perhaps) Maybe this was/is one of the Oaks secrets....By not using proper arch support in your feet more 'stress' will be applied to your spine and erector support structure....without added weight in upper body lifts....which with reason, would indirectly work the back when doing say HEAVY Bbell curls! *someones including that in their research* |

Gender: | thats exactly what i was thinking maybe it was one of his secrets. or maybe he just sweats like a beast and counldnt stand shoes... in pumping iron when hes doing squats he doest have shoes on either |

| The reasoning would carry over to say 'belts' and 'suits' as well. If you didnt use them right from day one, you'd never really have to. Perhaps they're crutches for under-developed lift support 'helper' muscles!?! Isolation exercises do have their place.....eventually! Last edited by TAURUS; 04-27-2005 at 01:13 PM. |
