I think it is easy to stick to it knowing that you can lose some battles and not lose the war. I talk to a lot of people about how to stay in shape, what they should do, how I got started, etc. All of these questions and the single biggest factor in my success is time. I've been in the gym as a regular part of my life for over 16 years now. For whatever low spots there have been, I have crawled back out. I've worked jobs where I could not get access to anything more than a few dumbells for months on end. Did I lose strength? Sure, but I did what I could. I've had periods where my diet was crappy, but I ate the best I could. Fried veggies are better than fried potato, right?

The truth is that if you put enough consistent work together, it doesn't have to be 16 years of success to end up better than most and better than you started. Just remember, there are people on this earth (far too many I would think) that have never stuck to anything for a whole year, let alone a couple, or five or ten... know what I'm saying? Success is often a matter of time and lessons learned, not perfection and never making mistakes.

Yes I have felt like that before and I will probably feel like that again one day but something to remember:

Progress takes TIME! - ALot of it!

In the end though, you will be rewarded with looking good and beings leaner/bigger/stronger/faster (whatever your goal is) then you ever were before.

What also keeps me going is that I go to a university gym and twice a year there is a wave of "newbs." In fall they come in with high hopes and dreams of getting "so cut!" So they run and they do crunches and they do bicep curls until they are blue in the face... for 2 weeks. lol

Then again the New Year resolution crew shows up determined to lose that pesky 5-50lbs that they don't want hanging around anymore. So they run and they do crunches and they use the elliptical until they are blue in the face....for 2 weeks.

Are you seeing a trend? I am. haha I've seen it 3 years in a row now.

Anyways, all I'm saying is if you stick with it you'll be rewarded and if you drop it now, all the effort you put in is lost.

I actually am aware of the fact that:

1.) I get scared to get strong because that means much more is at stake.

2.) I am inconsistent as hell with diet and training in terms of "being obsessed".

However, I am aware that I like lifting weights and I would like to be able to do that for a long time. Therefore, I have changed my mindset into accepting the above two facts and learning to stop thinking of weightlifting when I am not weightlifting. At one point of time I used to be obsessed with this and I would spend 5-6 hour reading, etc. Now....I wait for the impulse to read to come naturally. Otherwise, there are far more pressing issues in my life which need to be addressed.

Why are you always so philosophical? lol

I think I am strong therefore I am strong. My mind is strong therefore my body is strong.

...WTF lol
