do you ever?

Feel like giving up on your goals? It just seems that I dont have enough time in the day to eat as much as i should, work out like I should, and all the other stuff that goes with living a healthy life. It just seems that I try so hard and get no results.

hrdgain81 07-23-2008 06:37 PM

It gets frustrating at times, but there aint no quit in me, I think it would be harder to give up, then to keep on going.

You need bad days to remind you of what good is. Its all part of it. If its not worth fighting for then its not worth having.

MONSTAFACE 07-24-2008 03:14 AM

where there is a will, there is a way. everybody is busy, and everybody has things to do. you may not be able to do exactly what you want, but there is a way you can do something. there is a crazy amount of bodywieght exercises that you can do to get you in shape. you can always go running at any time. you can do it, you just have to tell yourself you can

Ross86 07-24-2008 04:36 AM

I get like that sometimes. When I do, I just get more strict with my diet and training. The potential is there, I just need to provide the right stimulus. If I'm not seeing results, it's because I'm not doing everything that I should be. Oh, and I always try to read some new stuff too. If I find something that sounds pretty awesome that I can try in the gym, then that will get me motivated. Sometimes (rarely), a new supplement will get me motivated although I've pretty much given up on that lately. If you're able to, add a little variety to your workout...it is the spice of life, after all. :)

I just see all the out of shape people who look like they never work out and I know I don't want to look like them

john917v 07-24-2008 09:11 PM

That's more than enough motivation for me, Joker! I used to be one of those people (I am nowhere near where I'd like to be, though!)

Twistid, bbing may be going against our bodies natural tendencies-extra muscle atrophies if not worked vigorously, but I see the pros in the mags, and I imagine that one day, as dedicated as I am, I would be as big as them, if I took roids like they do.

I hate to think that I wasted money on the whey I have taken to get to the point I'm at, also. And, they say that for every hour that you exercise, you add two hours to your lifespan!!

Good luck, and hang in there, bud.

hrdgain81 07-25-2008 06:43 AM

^^ good shit, keep us posted on the progress, it helps to keep a journal, you would be surprised at how much progress you make without noticing it.

john917v 07-25-2008 07:36 AM

That's what I'm going to start doing-today! Oh, and another motivator-girls seem to love going to the gym. And, guys seem to love girls. So....

I think it is easy to stick to it knowing that you can lose some battles and not lose the war. I talk to a lot of people about how to stay in shape, what they should do, how I got started, etc. All of these questions and the single biggest factor in my success is time. I've been in the gym as a regular part of my life for over 16 years now. For whatever low spots there have been, I have crawled back out. I've worked jobs where I could not get access to anything more than a few dumbells for months on end. Did I lose strength? Sure, but I did what I could. I've had periods where my diet was crappy, but I ate the best I could. Fried veggies are better than fried potato, right? :)

The truth is that if you put enough consistent work together, it doesn't have to be 16 years of success to end up better than most and better than you started. Just remember, there are people on this earth (far too many I would think) that have never stuck to anything for a whole year, let alone a couple, or five or ten... know what I'm saying? Success is often a matter of time and lessons learned, not perfection and never making mistakes.

dave_cshmn 07-25-2008 12:50 PM

i to get like that dont see results when i think they should be there then i say they didnt build rome in a day

iron_worker 09-11-2008 07:37 AM

Yes I have felt like that before and I will probably feel like that again one day but something to remember:

Progress takes TIME! - ALot of it!

In the end though, you will be rewarded with looking good and beings leaner/bigger/stronger/faster (whatever your goal is) then you ever were before.

What also keeps me going is that I go to a university gym and twice a year there is a wave of "newbs." In fall they come in with high hopes and dreams of getting "so cut!" So they run and they do crunches and they do bicep curls until they are blue in the face... for 2 weeks. lol

Then again the New Year resolution crew shows up determined to lose that pesky 5-50lbs that they don't want hanging around anymore. So they run and they do crunches and they use the elliptical until they are blue in the face....for 2 weeks.

Are you seeing a trend? I am. haha I've seen it 3 years in a row now.

Anyways, all I'm saying is if you stick with it you'll be rewarded and if you drop it now, all the effort you put in is lost.

I actually am aware of the fact that:

1.) I get scared to get strong because that means much more is at stake.

2.) I am inconsistent as hell with diet and training in terms of "being obsessed".

However, I am aware that I like lifting weights and I would like to be able to do that for a long time. Therefore, I have changed my mindset into accepting the above two facts and learning to stop thinking of weightlifting when I am not weightlifting. At one point of time I used to be obsessed with this and I would spend 5-6 hour reading, etc. Now....I wait for the impulse to read to come naturally. Otherwise, there are far more pressing issues in my life which need to be addressed.

iron_worker 09-12-2008 07:05 AM

Why are you always so philosophical? lol

I think I am strong therefore I am strong. My mind is strong therefore my body is strong.

...WTF lol

This was (IMO) a very philosophical question, my friend.

iron_worker 09-18-2008 03:11 PM

That's funny because I couldn't have summed up my own experience any better. You must be my brotha from a different motha. :D
