Firearms Part II... if you could only have one weapon which would you choose and why
Pretend the world went to sh_t today, and you could only choose one weapon for everyday life in what's left of civilization. Which weapon would you choose and why?
I'll start: This was a tough choice. I was torn between a pistol and a shotgun. I went with the pistol because: 1) I can conceal a pistol. The above mentioned situation would make guns highly sought-after & I'd be a target if I'm visably toting a rifle or shotgun. 2) Pistol ammo is more compact, thus I can carry more. I would choose a NON-MATCH GRADE 1911 .45acp made by Para Ordinance, Springfield Armory or a similar in quality manufacturer. I want a quality piece, but not one with specs so tight it risks malfunction or being picky on the ammo I feed it, (since ammo will probably be scarce, I have to use what I find). I choose the .45acp round because it's quite common and easy to find, plus it's big enough to have stopping power for defense or hunting. I know a rifle or shotgun would be a much better choice for hunting, but I think it's more important to be able to conceal the weapon for the reasons mentioned above. I choose the 1911 because I want the resilience and durability of less moving parts, and all metal construction. Also, ergonomically speaking, nothing feels better in my hand (I've got more range time with a 1911 than any other). I just like the weight of the metal frame, it absorbs more of the kick, which makes it more accurate for my shooting style. I know polymer-frame guys will tell me to work on my grip and not rely on the weight of the piece, but I just like feel of cold metal! Plus, I give you the George Forman Guarantee that I'm one of the most accurate shooters you'll find on the range, if I have my 1911! I'm not saying my choice is right... in fact I want to read what you would choose and why:)... I just think it's an interesting topic and makes for great discussion/debate. Anyway... that's my 2 cents... |
Ok since having weapons over here are a no no, i dont know much about them. However i did spend 6 years in the armed forces so i can only go by the weapons ive used. They were GPMG 7.62, SA80 5.56, BROWNING PISTOL 9, LAW 80, MILAN, and a 66. Since the last 3 are for taking out tanks, light armor and bunkers it wont be one of them.
I would have to settle for the SA80, its light and reliable. The magazine holds 30 rounds which are 5.56mm so there small enough to carry shit loads. You can fire single shot or have it auto, the sights are SUSAT, which make them hard to miss your target. The only down side is the round is relatively small so to kill someone it would have to be a head or heart shot. This said if i could have a Warrior tank then that would be my choice:biglaugh: |
I would also have to go with the tried and true 1911. had 2 of them and really liked them both

Man those squirrels must be hard to kill.
|
There's really no choice in my mind other than a .22. It's killed more deer than any other caliber in history. It got a lot of families through the Great Depression.
