| Most laptops have a vga output, you will have to go into your control pannel, click on display, then the settings tab, you should see two large grey boxes with numbers in them. (1) is your laptop screen, (2) is the external monitor. right click on (2) and click on "Attached", that will allow you to ouput to that screen. If you want to run dual monitors, simply click the box that says "extend mhy windows desktop onto this monitor". *this advice assumes your using windows xp, other versions have similar settings, but not word for word. |

Alot of times you can plug in the monitor to the back of the laptop, restart the laptop, and it will work. | |

| hhahhah ok, I didnt think a scratch would make it that bad. You can also try to hook up the screen, and if restarting doesnt work, there should be a function key to swap outputs. Its usually a F key, mine is F7 so you hold down "Fn" and hit F7 to toggle through output options. yours may be different, but there is usually a little icon on the F buttons that depicts it. Hope this helps. |

| Thats odd, hmm there is a chance that the monitor settings in the control panel, under display arent set up correctly for that perticular monitor. If your refresh rate is off, or the monitor doesnt support the resolution, that could keep it from displaying. I wish I could help more, but without actually being there its kinda difficult. if you can, try another monitor and adjust the settings, or jump on ebay you can find laptop lcds for very cheap. |
