hm..

Is it common for you guys to go to the gym and see the exact same guys always doing either curls or some sort of shoulder press and thats it? Never ever have I ever seen a single person in the squat rack, or deadlifts, or any of the simple basic things...just the saaaaame thing every time, and never do they ever even do a single bit of cardio...it just frustrated me, and I had to say something...

That is pretty much the reality.

You know it's funny because me and Joe are always talking about how all fired self-important certain "strength coaches" have gotten and we say how they seem to be laboring under the delusion that the average gym goer has ever heard of them. Just walking into any average gym should burst that bubble right away.

But I gotta tell ya...don't bother saying anything to people in the gym. It is not worth it. And honestly, put yourself in their shoes and think how much you enjoy unsolicited advice or critiques when you're at the gym.

Yeah, I am not the kind of guy who will tell someone else how to do something, it was just annoying seeing all these guys staring at themselves in mirrors and all they ever do is try and make their biceps bigger...its ridiculous...like really, wtf!?!? I guess whatever they want to do...their choice, it was just frustrating today because there are usually about 3 or 4 people in the weight area when I go and there were 10 or 15 today.

What really frustrates me is the guys that only do upper body and actually have bigger biceps than me.

or guys that go in there using 15-20lb dumbells for an exercise

you made it all the way in here and i KNOW you can do more than that, so why not atleast try to get a workout?

i guess i'm just use to pushing myself and these guys aren't haha

Some things never change. In my years of training I have seen this happen so many times. Most will not change and do not want to hear advice (because that would require some effort on their part). I just hate it when some moron is doing curls in the squat rack when I am trying to work.......

Swampassjr 01-19-2010 04:42 PM

another thing i need to rant about is that i absolutely hate when someone sees you using a bench/fixed weight barbell/squat rack and they will go and use it right as you're walking up to pound another set in. dont even say a word or just a simple "hey do you mind if i get in on this real quick?" i'd have absolutely no problem then, but dont go in there acting like you own the place

Pirate 01-20-2010 12:04 PM

That happened to me last night, I was working out all alone then I walk away from an instant because I like to walk around for about 30 seconds in between sets and the instant I stand up, a group of guys that probably play with each other in the locker room just barge in like they fucking own the place...assholes
