Yeah. It's always a clue when they don't know your name or anything about you other than an e-mail address. I got about 5 different "paypal" things asking me for crazy things like my bank card number for "security purposes". Luckily I didn't fall for it.

Yeah, be careful of Phishing scams. They may catch you off-guard if you aren't paying attention.

If you get an unexpected message from E-bay or something, and you want to make sure something isn't really going on, like in the e-mail message, do not use the links in the e-mail. Go to ebay.com and log in and see if you have any real messages from E-bay. Using the links could set you up so you are giving away your personal information. If you don't have an E-bay account, then you know for sure something is wrong.

Good tips. My wife uses e-bay and she gets strange messages all the time. She never clicks on the links. One thing to look for is an overwrought sense of urgency. They'll say if you don't do something or other IMMEDIATELY you account will be cancelled without warning. Same for bank scams and such. No legitimate company is ever going to cancel your account without warning and they are not going to call updating you info (the most common simple phishing scam) and emergency.
