Plasma donation/affects on muscle production?
I sell my plasma on Tuesdays and Thurs. each week. at a plasma donation place. I lift M/W/F. Do any of the scholarly types around here know/can find out if donating plasma will interfere w/ muscle production? I'd greatly appreciate it!

From what I know, there are hormones and amino acids in blood plasma, among other things. I don't think that it will affect your nitrogen balance that much, so that's not too much of a worry. And I doubt that it takes away that much of your hormones.
Actually, the best way to find out would be to look at your progress since you've been donating plasma. I doubt that it would make much of a difference.
I just googled your question and this article came up:
If you don't read the whole thing, at least read the summary on the last page or two.
Having a gainer shake (carb/protein) right before or right after might negate your loss.
That's my 10 cents. I might be completely off, but that's how I reasoned it. I'm curious to hear a more educated response also.

IMO, though people always have these questions ass backwards. No offense meant..that's just the way we are taught to think.
It's going to affect your PERFORMANCE. Anything that affects your performance regulary affects your outcome. I suggest that everyone stop dwelling on physiological details like protein synthesis before they look at something that is much more simple to answer.."how does this affect my performance in the gym".
I've actually heard people ask "will being hungover affect muscle growth?"...lmao
Hey that probably answers itself..if you're so used to being hungover that you are even able to go to the gym in that state you probably drink too much.
Same thing here...if you have been regulary donating twice a week for a while while training you have "gotten used to it". But that doesn't mean it doesn't detract in a longterm way.
