I liked it, great movie.
One of my friends read the book before the movie and said a lot was changed from the book. Apparently, the book character was an old Vietnam sniper vet instead of the young Mark Wahlberg character.
I still thought it was great. I loved the part where he takes out the bad guys from a rowboat! Freakin' awesome!

Yeah, that always happens somehow. It's been AGES since I read JAWS, and it was very different than the movie. The book dealt with the mayor getting leaned on by the mob to keep beaches open, and the oceanographer gets eaten in the cage. I think he banged Mrs. Brodie as well.. Shit, it's been SO long that I don't honestly remember. Lol, I think I read that when I was 8. :lame:

Yeah. But think about the case of jaws. Did you need all that sub-plot to make a good movie? No. All you needed was a huge shark eating people. Sometimes what works in books doesn't work in movies. But a LOT of times, writers create sidelines and sub-plots simply because if you're not established enough, publishers won't publish short books!

Ever read Old Man and the Sea? It's a two or three hour read :biglaugh:

I'll bet you in the case of Shooter they just rewrote the character because they wanted Mark Wahlberg.

yea, it's easy to Hollywoodize characters written in books when converting the book into a movie, but how about converting a video game into a movie? kind of hard to change the characters too much, right?

No. Case and point, Super Mario Bros. the movie. Royal 'A' class fuck up.

Bowser is supposed to be a monstrous fuckin spiked shelled S.O.B....but instead he was Dennis Hopper or some other fag :biglaugh:

lol...:haha:

Oh yea, forgot about the Mario Bros. movie. Some things are better left forgotten...
