I've done a few. Get a good host...you normally get the host/domain together. It's not very hard to do....it can be hard to make your website. I built carolinaclaymatters.org & duckcreekpottery.com. If you want a more professional look, then you might want to have someone build it for you. I just googled some stuff and found getafreelancer.com. You can put down the criteria for the site and people will bid on your project. I think you can look at their portfolios and stuff. It's a cool way to get it done relatively cheaply.

I have some experience, but I'm more of a back end guy, my roomate does web design and all that pretty shit for a living. What Ross said is true, you need a good host, I use 1and1, if you decide to go with them use my affiliate link (http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=14228359) so I can get paid

I would suggest planning out exactly what you want your site to do first. I ended up redesigning mine a few times, and taking way more time then I should have to get things in place. Infact they still arent where they should be, waiting on my design guy to finish his part.

If you want/need more info let me know.

hahah god only knows, the redesign should be done next week, I had some problems that could only be solved programatically, so i needed to learn php in order to get everything hammered out right. But I still dont know any CSS, so I still have to rely on other people for that ... and thats the hold up.

Dont worry Talo, as soon as it done, I'll start a thread about it.

i love this site. i can get anything i need on here lol. i have an idea of what i want. well i need to talk to a few friends and see whats up. the stuff i am into may be alittle hard and may cost money. a few of my homies from collge have some stuff up their sleeve. also this girl i went to college with and i used to talk about having a relationship advice column. but i thought about instead of that we can just shoot for a website. i know all that kind of stuff will be alot of work but i figured their were some peole here who could give advice

So, would it be kinda like this site (forum base) but on relationships ? If so, sleazy would be a good one to give advice, since this is his bad boy!

If your going to use a forum set up, look into vbulliten, its pretty cheap, but its a php/mysql based program, so you will need to make sure your hosting server is set up for that.

On the same token, if your looking at using something like a blog set up, I would suggest looking at a program called wordpress, also a php/mysql base.

I am currently using both, so if you have questions hit me up.

I like this spot alot more then most bb websites, everyone discusses shit rationally, and is here to make themselves and others better. Most bb sites are all about pushing suppliments, or personal training, or whatever. I'm sure those guys make bank, but its annoying as hell when the answer to every question is "buy this new suppliment, and that wont happen anymore"
