I was talking about within the workout. In general I mean rest between sets and exercises. But I thought you were only dong one set of each as far as attempting a rep max of some type so I was primarily talking about between exercises. Of course between warmup sets it will be quicker but even then it would be better to rest than to start breathing all heavy and stuff.

How long have your been resting between the different exercises? If you haven't been really timing it I will say that most people are resting a shorter period than what they thing. Like if you use a stop watch what you though was five minutes turns out to be more like three.

To put it simpy, if I did a 3RM on squat and then was going to do a RM on deads, I'd be resting probably 5 minutes.

That is not to say if, for instance your were doing a series of triples, double, singles, whatever with certain rest between sets you couldn't then reduce those rest periods on subsequent workouts in order to get stronger. But that is a different subject.

Of course you should rest between workouts, haha.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Thx Eric I thought thats what you meant. And yeah of course I rest between workouts too!!

Stress Day today
Pretty sweet day actually, squats were awesome,I did 6x4 but I probably could have got 5x5.I went with 4s because last week I fucked up my rep count and didnt technically make 5x5 with that weight.I might stick with this 6x4 not sure yet, I still had some gas in the tank so I would probably be able to load like this for a while.Bench was heavy, I still improved upon last week but barely, I think I may need a slight workload reduction for a couple weeks,I was thinking going with 5x3 (15reps) for a couple weeks, seeing how that goes and then adding sets to 8x3 or something.Hmm will see how things go, either way I dont think 5x5 with 80kg is a reality just yet!!Chins were tough but I made all those reps, bar speed is slowing though.

Stress Day 21/1/08
Squat 6x4 100kg
Bench 5x4 1x3 80kg
Chin 10x3 BW+13.75kg

You guys rest between workouts?.......

Good session Hops. There's nothing wrong with a little variety.

I'm doing okay, but I'm not good to go yet. I've been doing light stuff and things that don't cause me pain. Plyometrics are foreign around here, so I get strange looks doing squat jumps and stuff. I tested myself at 140KG today. It was pretty easy to my surprise and it felt alright on my back; not great, but better than I thought it would. I've started a therapy cycle of Cissus Quadrangularis, so I'm not sure if it's healed a bit or if it's just the pain killing effects. It's only the second day, so probably the latter.

I'm itching to fire it up again, but I'm not going to until I feel I'm ready. I'd also like to see a decent physio and see what he says before I consider when to begin. Apparenlty there's a guy who deals with martial artists and wrestlers in the next town over, I just have to get his name from my chiro.

Anyways, keep up the good work Hops. Soon you'll fly past me bro!!

Cheers,
Jeff

Felt good today, Press was flying up my 1st few sets but sort of stalled out all of a sudden, I missed reps and called it a day after 16 reps, but it was a weight PR so thats cool I suppose.Rows were feeling good too, fairly easy, still a little concerned the volume may ba a tad high for light day but I guess Fridays will tell that story.

Light Day 23/1/08
Squat 3x3 70kg
Press 4x3 2x2 46kg (PR)
Dumbell Row 3x8 30kg

Hungry now!!

Yeh....what....uh....yeh....uh....what....

That's all I could think of the whole time. I almost missed the presses

To be able to listen to what you want to while training. Now that's priceless. I don't know how many times I've heard "...This, is not New York....This, is not Berlin....This, is, Sensation!"

Sorry, getting off topic. Just venting.

Nice PR bro!!
