Things are still going well on this routine. I am not making as fast of progress as I was making in the first few weeks, but im still getting stronger. Plus im doing kind of a modified version of starting strength now...and I am going to modify a little more next week with the lighter wednesday workout to try and give me more recovery and push me past these stalling numbers.

Hey, let us know how the back-off on Wednesday's squats goes for you. I'm debating trying that myself or the microloading, but since I'm not sore or exhausted, I'm going micro first as I think I'm still just a big sissy. lol But I'm very curious to see how it effects your progress.
Yeah I will let you know how it goes.

Hey, just so you know, Hunter, the version you are doing with the Mon, Wed, Fri, workout instead of the ABA format is completely within the realms of SS in general. Perhaps not the exercises exactly but the format. ABA is just another choice of format not the only one. So you are not completly strking out on your own here and my suggestions for that were not completely made up by me but were taken from suggestions by Rip himself. Not that any of this matters too much, lol, but it make cast aside some of the doubt people have as to right way wrong way.

Gotcha. So how much longer should I stick with this program? My progress has slowed, but im still making it. When is the right time to jump up to an intermediate program?

Well basically once you've milked it for everything it's worth. But just monitor yourself and play it by ear.

You know sometimes I think people are to "plan" oriented when it's better to be "reaction" oriented. Changing programs is not like changing the oil in your car where you do it once every so many miles whether needed or not. Better to make small changes to what your are doing to further sustain progress.

You've made one change only so far and you are planning another so it's better to just wait and see....of course I can't predict exactly how long you can do it or how long you will even want to

I hear what your saying. Id rather make these small changes then do something drastic and change everything up. Plus im still new to working out on a regular basis with the three big lifts. So I mine as well keep doing them and perfecting my form and increasing my strength.

Monday 27 August

Squats
Empty Bar x 5
135x5
165x2
185x1

235 3x5

Bench
Empty Bar x 5
135x5
185x1

260 3x5

Pullups 2x5
Weighted Dips (35) 2x10

Ab work: Weighted Decline sit-ups (1x50), Dumbbell Side Bends(1x20), Cable Woodchops (2x15)

Squats were really tough at that weight. I am looking forward to going easy on them on Wednesday's workout. Set a new PR on flat bench! Id like to someday max out and figure out my 1 repition max. Switched up the ab work a bit and I like the changes.

You could easily max out on bench on a monday without it being a problem. Just work yourself up slowy with singles after a couple warmup sets. Then hit a back off set at about 65 percent of whatever you use and don't do anything else on bench.
