Gender: | I think that depends on how advanced you are. Some VERY advanced guys will need back offs in intensity as well as some way of managing volume. What's interesting is that he say's his maxes shot up despite the fact that he was not really working according to his true max. What you have to ask is why? For him...backing off from his max may be just what the doctor ordered. Call it a sort of deload. But for you it may not be necessary or desirable. I, personally, wouldn't recommend undershooting your "max" that much working with a waved, percentage based program. But you really don't know what will happen until you do it. D might have a better informed opinion on this, though. It wouldn't work for me, I know. I see that D was posting at the same time as me. I will point out that he is more advanced than I am at this point |

| Moderator Rank: Light Heavyweight Experience: 7-10 Years | Oh, I only meant that most, if not all trainees don't know exactly what their rep maxes are, so it's better to err on the side of caution. Not so much a big 10% deduction lol. If Wendler's benching 600 lbs, running the program at a 10% deduction would certainly ellicit the gains he's after! Also, I know most trainees aren't current lol. So when you ask them what their 1 RM squatting is, they'll toss out an all time PR from 6 months ago. |

| Rank: Lightweight Experience: > 1 Year | Thats what I like about where I'm at now. My squat and my deadlift PR were performed within the last 2 weeks. Bench has been lagging a bit I suppose but mostly due to shoulder problems. Solid work in here. 295lbs squat ATG is pretty solid! I hope to be there soon. IronWorker |
