Default Tom's lineman lifting

well, football's over monday (no playoffs) and ill be taking the rest of this week off to let my joints heal up a bit. this offseason ill be doing a more football specific routine with my coach (the 55 year old who benches over 400). after seeing how well my buddies did i cant not. however i will be forcing myself to do cardio and sprints, becasue those were 2 areas that killed me this year. and i want to be able to be a 2 way starter next season. i tested my bench max friday and i went down to 235. but for 3 months of not lifting i think thats pretty good. i cant wait to get back to lifting regularly, i sleep so much better when i do.

It's funny how you can lift a decent amount of weight after taking a few months off. I've had several friends that were the same way. It's the endurance that leaves the fastest. That's awesome though...you're going to be moving up fast.

Keep us posted... I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

i was just wondering, is this lifting program something that your coach borrowed from another school or college, or is it something that he came up with on his own?

we postponed squats till tommorow becasue no one can walk right right now. its something he came up with over the past 20 some odd years of being a DB/strength coach in the south. i was wondering what you guys think about me trying out wrestling. will the potential slow of the strength gain be worth what id get outa doing it? my coaches want us to do wrestling but i wanted to see what you think to. here's what i did today

seated dumbell overhead presses: 5x10 with 30's
isolation curls: 3x7 with 25's 2x8 with 20's
wrist curls: 5x25 with 30's
powercleans: 5x10 at 115
powershrugs: 5x10 at 155

todays running
1/4 mile warm-up
30 yard sprints: 5
20 yard "poor mans parachute" sprints: 10
20 yard "firemans carry": 5
we ran late so we didn't go inside and do any biking/tredmill stuff.

Good luck with that. Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky few that's not phased too badly. Although I suppose you'll have to take a little while off to keep from breaking open the wounds. Hope you have a quick recovery
