I've recently had a "Taco Tuesday" when I was chillin' on the beach all day.. So I'm going to skip my weekend carbload since I really made a few mistakes this week lol.

Yesturday
2983 159(fat) 30(carb) 317(prot)

Went to the casino to watch the fight(what a match!!) and I was able to have 1 beer 8.2 carbs in Bud Light. Also came home with $300. So it was a good night.

I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

I've got a few questions.....
I apologize of the bat that i havent read every single post in your journal and you may have allready touched on this but......

Are you seeing any signs of catabolism while on this diet and program???
Deceased strength?
Decreased muscle mass?
Fatigue?

I think alot of glutamine can be a very benefitial supplement to this diet. Are you taking any? and how much?

No worries, just glad you stopped by.

I have not seen any signs of catabolism. No strength loss, my numbers are still climbing. I have dropped about 4lbs , but i look bigger.

No glutamine.I'm sure it might help but I am waiting for some BCAA's to come in the mail, then I will be adding 30g of that. It's actually a mix and has L-Glutamine 2.5 g and Citrulline Malate 1 g. I may add some extra glutamine next month.

As long as my fat and protein are high then I don't get tired. My first carb load really did a number on me for fatigue, but my last one was better. My energy is nice and stable now, where when I was taking in carbs I would have a mid day crash.

I've had some success with carb depletion diets, a few tips from my experience:

- This might be good reading > http://www.scivationbooks.com/books/chadiet/CHA%202.pdf

-The carb loading phase is fun. You get to eat alot of things you normally wouldnt eat in amounts you normally wouldnt eat. Enjoy it. But try to avoid eating fats while carb loading.

-The keto diet phase is also kinda fun. Again, you get to eat things you probably wouldnt normally eat. Enjoy a nice fatty NY strip steak, chicken wings or a juicy 80/20 burger (no bun ofcourse).

- Dont just watch what you eat, watch how you eat it. Ketsup, other condiments, dressings, even marinades count. They can be enough to blow you out of keto.

- Spread them out... If you're trying to keep under 30g carbs per day dont eat them all in one meal. Try to keep all meals under 5g and try to keep any carbs near the time of your workouts.

- L-Glutamine...Protect your muscles.

- Get into Keto fast. I ran my loading phase from saturday AM to sunday mid day. I followed up with an intense workout sunday PM and monday AM (split). Throw in some cardio and youll be in keto by tuesday AM.

- Your first two workouts after your load up are most important. This might be your only chance to be productive. You dont need to gain strength while on this diet but you definately dont want to lose strength.

Good luck.

Thanks Boondock . It's funny that you sent that to me cause I just printed it out this afternoon(which I found on clutchfitness). I haven't read it all, but did scan through it. I am going from the Anabolic Diet book (was giving to me from 0311) , but this one seems to have a lot of the same rules with different pointers and diets/workouts.

Thanks for your pointers also. The thing I am trying to figure out right now is my carb load time. First weekend I only did about 18-20hrs. THe weekend after that was closer to 36hr. I'm not going to carb load this weekend, but up coming Friday night prob to Sunday morning. I will be working out Sunday and Monday so that's good.

April 22

Workout today was amazing, lot's of energy and I was even able to do 20 mins of cardio. Started it off with 8 sets of 3 with 245lbs Bench - slow down , 2 second hold, then explode up. Did some DB bench press with 100's , then moved on to tri's, back, shoulders, curls. Right afer I had 42g of protein then sipped on 15g BCAA"s while riding the bike.

I have added 30g of BCAA's to my daily and I am still hovering around 3000 calories. With only 3 days to go I am craving some junk. Ice cream and cheese cake, cravings come at night when I'm board. So we are cleaning out the basement and getting rid of a pile of stuff.
Weather sure has changed last weekend was +15 , this weekend 12" of snow!!! Gotta love that.

So my carb load went for 50hrs ( a bit longer than I wanted) Started it Friday at 2pm with 2 teen burgers from A&W. Didn't go to crazy on Friday , so Saturday I loaded up good with some potatoes,pancakes,milk,malto/dextrin (post workout) cheesecake and some beer . It was a wedding weekend so I didn't bother counting any calories. I ate as much as I could when I could. I also managed to get my brother and father ( in law ) to come to the gym with me the morning of. Since we had a huge dump of snow during the week all the golf courses where closed.

I weighted myself any time I was near a scale. Two of them said 234lbs which is basically my starting weight and I know I have dropped some bf ( my love handles are gone), but then the one in the gym said 223lbs, this was on Saturday morning on an empty stomach before any of the good stuff, well I did start my carb up on Friday maybe just not enough.

Today I got to the gym and did squats, that was basically all I had time for I had to get to the store and off to work. I will try and ride the bike for 40mins tonight.
