your belt doesn't need to be tight.

i have seen a couple of your posts. I suggest you read some articles because you don't seem very knowledgeable hence I assume you are new to weightlifting.

Here is are some good resources for you:

Why Aren't You Growing?

Warming Up Properly

Exercise Descriptions

Powerlifting Articles Database

Powerlifting Articles Description

Also, if you have some money which you don't want to waste on supplements, I advise you to invest it in the following two books:

Basic Barbell Training

Practical Programming

Cheers and Good Luck

what would be the point of wearing a belt if it wasn't tight ?

TALO's Sig:"But when do you actually grow? Well, we don't grow in the gym. In the gym, we destroy. We tear down the body. We only grow when we are recovering. That's right, I said recovery. I see it all the time--people beating themselves up in the gym and not seeing results. They don't understand that hitting the weights hard is only a small part of growing or even cutting down. I could train the same all year round and get big or get ripped just by eating different and taking different supplements"

TALO, when he said "tight" i presume (from the rest of all of his posts) that he is a newbie and he probably tightens it to the entent of which its almost suffocating. when i say it should be loose, i mean it just like any other tom dick and harry powerlifting/strongman would: tight enough for you to gulp in a huge breath of air and hold it.

no one is "owed" to each you. you can research on your own. or you can be polite. do not be disrespectful because you are already showing large signs of being a troll (which will have you banned fairly quickly as this is a no-nonsense board) so i suggest you check yourself soon.

you can ask to your heart's content. make sure you do it in a respectful manner. no one here is COMPELLED to answer your questions. anyone who answers your question is doing you a FAVOR. so show some respect.

back to your original question: velcro belts are good however they arent very good at heavier weights. old school leather belts are way better in these strength-training scenarios. IMO velcro belts kinda suck.

I agree. With heavy weights the velcro belt does not do as well as a buckle (plus the thought of the velcro coming loose is not pleasant) IMO which is why when I do use a belt it has a buckle.

widdoes2504's Sig:Height: 6 foot
Weight: 240 pounds

Bench: 405 (1x1)
Deads: 565 (1x1)
A2G Squat: 425 (1x1)

Cardio sucks
