1015 lbs x 3 Squat
check this out fellas:
i was a bit uncertain about depth but i do think he made it to parallel. pretty amazing stuff. |
He definitely hit parallel on the last 2 reps.
Holy Shit!! |
Damn!!!
|
Impresive.
However, his legs were more than 3ft apart and the bar only moved 8 inches. |

Haha it sounded like you could hear something tearing every time he went down. That's pretty bad ass.
|
I said it was impressive. Thats a freakish amount of weight.
I'd just be more impressed if he did 6 or 700 lbs with his feet closer together and atleast to or past parallel. |
He's wearing a squat suit. I'm not sure but I think it's a metal pro two ply. The suits pretty much force you into that position from what I know and powerlfiters squat that way to maximize the benifits of the suit.
This is another case in point of what I keep saying but I don't really think people want to except. Powerlifters DON'T CARE about what anyone thinks of their stance. They don't care about "being strong". They only care about putting as much weight up in the contested lifts as they can within the rules of their organization. If you like the sport, and follow it, you will be impressed. If you don't like the sport, and don't follow it, you will be underwhelmed. The point is though that what makes a powerlifter good is not what makes a strongman good, or a OL good. |
yowzers.

Excellent points Eric. You have to take his lift in the context of what he is doing. As a powerlifter I am pretty sure he does not give a shit what his form looks like as long as the weight moves whereas for myself I would not attempt that weight (I prefer not to use gear personally) but strive for better form. Take it for what it is worth and remember that is a shitload of weight. Give the man credit or if you don't like it do better and post a vid.
Off my soapbox :) |
Yep. Absolutely. And on the standpoint of form I am not into the whole gear thing. If I were to compete it would probably be gear free. BUT if you put on a suit you'd have a hard time squatting any other way than what he is squatting. If you were a powerlifter without a suit you are going to have a different position being optimal. This is the problem with people trying to emulate what they see on youtube vids.
|
some good points, Eric. i think what you said about "impressive" being a relative term is very correct. it all depends from which standpoint we're seeing things.
|
I think that suits do help a tremendous amount, but I also believe a large part of it is the mental aspect and the idea that its going to be easier to lift 'X' amount of weight if I have on this suit.
|
You know, that's something to think about. I'm pretty sure that gear can have a 'placebo'-type effect.
|
I dont' give a **** who you are. Thats impressive. lol
