http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/20...nt_9155809.htm

he did more trainning!!! wtf!!!???

I thought I've seen it all, damn I've got so much work to do...:gay::WEIGHT~13:

Pitysister 08-11-2008 03:50 AM

damnit...was the snatch on tv....that's the one thing i really wanna see.

TALO 08-11-2008 05:18 AM

That's a great lift.

As for the olympics - I'm watching what I can , but come on Canada stinks!! Looks like it's between China and the USA . Some world records have been broken in swimming that I saw.

Next week will be good to watch also , with all the track.

Andrew.cook 08-11-2008 08:26 AM

Olympic lifting is insanely fun. I've been hoping to catch some of it on TV, but it is not nearly held in such high regards as swim/dive/gymnastics. Though I saw a few minutes of water polo and field hockey... and if THEY get air time, dammit, weights better!

UmmmPain 08-11-2008 10:51 AM

Yeah it was on t.v it'll be on again I forget when but hopefully the big boys will come out soon.

Yeah its between USA and China right now, go to espn.com theres medal trackers and all that stuff...

Gotta check out the mens gymnastic on the uneven bars it is so freakin intense I was jumping out of my seat with disbelief with what these guys can do. their upper body is well build but they got chicken legs lol.

Pitysister 08-11-2008 01:29 PM

yeah.. i caught men's gymnastics high bar...and it was nuts. they do crazy shit these days.

anybody else see the dumbass game played on like....a bigger basketball court...but with a soccer net...and a mini basketball...they sort of dribble the ball...and throw it towards the goal...looked so stupid.

Andrew.cook 08-11-2008 02:09 PM

Pity, that would be handball, and my understanding is that around the rest of the world, it is kinda popular... but keep in mind that any game that has low entrance requirements (what, tiny ball and some kind of goal) is going to be popular in less developed nations. Why do you think soccer is so big? Any town with enough space and a ball (head of an infidel) can have a team and host a game.

Games like field hockey I don't get. Can't they just learn to skate and wait until the winter? :( Or water polo... um, I'm sure that seems macho in some circles, but it looks kinda ghey to me. I appreciate how hard it must be... but I imagine slogging waist deep through cow manure while carrying a midget wearing spurs would be hard too. Difficulty alone is not impressive.

Pitysister 08-11-2008 02:16 PM

see...when i hear handball....i think racquetball...minus the racquet...like i played in college.

Andrew.cook 08-11-2008 02:16 PM

Speaking of difficult, anyone see the black swimmer? Normally I hate the causes that Olympic athletes take up, but his "swimming for inner city youth" program is pretty cool. Being in the Navy I was shocked how many black guys couldn't swim. Even the ones that "could" looked like a three legged dog trying not to drown. I understand that you may not have much cause to save your life by swimming if you live in inner city (insert your own city here), but considering that it is a LIFESAVING measure, you would think a little more emphasis would be placed on it. I may not be Michael Phelps but I can keep myself above water long enough to not die. Normally the causes I see are things like "Third world skeet shooting" really? Because the little kid with an AK-47 needs to be able to hit a little pink disc? Retarded. Those people need food and a stable government, not a sport. Look it up in Maslowe's heirarchy of needs, "sport" doesn't even factor until food, shelter and safety are met. But learning to swim... safety, bam, hit it right on the head!

Andrew.cook 08-12-2008 08:50 AM

Awww, c'mon guys, you too could be an Olympic lifting superstar if you were identified as gifted at a very young age and then forced to eat, breathe, and sleep two lifts in a communist society where you had no choice but to comply...

Seriously though, lots of people want this level of success, but it is a single minded pursuit that overrides EVERYTHING else in life. You may think it rocks, but you don't really want the sacrifice that comes with it. Or maybe you do... I am not one to judge. :)

Andrew, this had me laughing out loud in the office, so funny, cause its true.

I've been hooked on the games thus far, doesnt matter what sport, m/w gymnastics, swimming, softball, basketball, I just turn on NBCHD and watch till I have to go to sleep. Shit is addictive, especially with things like the 4x100 relay, fuckin french, should have kept thier mouths shut, maybe they would have met a less fired up US team ...

Andrew.cook 08-12-2008 11:48 AM

Oh, I love the games too. I have issues with the "women's only" sports, like field hockey and softball. Seriously, make it a sport that everyone plays or ditch it. I would love to see a men's softball team. All these guys with beer guts dragging coolers of Pabst Blue Ribbon out onto the field... that will show the world how America rolls!

Field hockey... still, retarded.

I am impressed by gymnastics and swimming because I am so incapable of doing the things I see them do. I mean, I can sprint and run and all that. I have a point of reference to those sports, but I sink in an uncontrolled manner and I can't even cartwheel in a manner that would make people think that I wandered off of the short bus... so yeah, I watch those two in awe.

Pitysister 08-12-2008 01:25 PM

don't forget chevy blue old milwaukee :)

UmmmPain 08-12-2008 04:46 PM

GREAT WHITE!!! best damn beer money can buy...

UmmmPain 08-13-2008 11:39 PM

Did some reading after the lost last night, as an American I can't believe what the media are saying... "Cheating China!" come on that's not how we are as Americans. They didn't "cheat" maybe didn't fallow rules with the age limit, yeah they look real young. We lost fair and square, we are just humans and we do make mistakes. Even if they are underage we got our asses kicked by little young'ns. We placed second because we made a few mistakes well actually few HUGE ones. I just can't believe how young these athletes are now and days and doing big things representing our country. Just wait till we get to the track and field we'll own it! lol Lets go USA!!!

oh yeah just saw some field hockey that just doesn't make any sense your right Andrew

Pitysister 08-14-2008 03:55 AM

we did lose.....but those chinese girls still look like they are six.

MONSTAFACE 08-14-2008 05:24 AM

yeah i feel bad for the gymnast who messed up twice. if she feels that bad about it though she can cry on my shoulder and i will console her to the best of my ability :)

hrdgain81 08-14-2008 06:03 AM

There has been a lot of talk of judges favoring the chinese, which sucks, you never want to hear that kinda shit in the olympics. But after watching a few of the boxing matches in question, and seeing the scores its tough to defend the judges. The scoring in boxing is so piss poor to begin with, but it was pretty ridiculous in both those matches.

As far as age goes, I think everyone needs to follow the rules. That being said, there really is no way to gauge how old the girls are. The birth certs could say they are 25 and no one can challenge that. So if they are "cheating" screw that, we should have been good enough to beat them anyway. The f'd up part is we could have, and should have, but that one girl just had a bad day ....

I would "console" her as well monsta, I dig athletic chics hahaha.

MONSTAFACE 08-14-2008 06:24 AM

lol. yeah and she is old enough to. 20 is a bit young but ill take her right on down. and fomr what i understand even if she didnt mess up it was a good possibily the US would have been behind by a few tenths or so anyway.

Andrew.cook 08-14-2008 07:46 AM

Anyone that plays in a sport takes their chances. I know I've officiated games where someone thought I was favoring sides. I never set out to do it, and the judges in the olympics are from all over. Hard to claim they are all on the take. I mean, it isn't like the cold war era where the easter block countries would score their people 9.5 and then score the Brits like a 4.2, while the French would score the Brits a 9.6 and score the Czech a 3.8. I mean, really? Can't we at least TRY to hide our disdain at that point?

Frankly I have always found it to be bad show to point fingers at how you were wronged. If you don't want it to be close, stomp a mud hole in your competition and then there will never be a doubt. Until then you were close be the gods didn't favor you that day.

ghij_mpu 08-14-2008 08:03 AM

Not for the squeamish.....

Dislocated Elbow

Ouch!!!

I've been enjoying the Olympics when I can. The other night I just found a bunch of hi-def cable channels that are carrying the games. The call letters are OLY1, OLY2...OLY5.

On the other hand, tell me that she isn't the cutest weight lifter ever! Canada rocks! http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/bei...1991936385%3A1

MONSTAFACE 08-14-2008 12:03 PM

oh yeah. she is nice. if she feels the need to cry from her lift she can also lay on my shoulder and get consoled properly as well :)
