I would keep using the double pronated grip as long as you possibly can. It's a good way to train your grip which is important.

I have done starting strength workout and I don't know what skewed version you're reading but you're supposed to add 5lb/week. Some people do 10lb/week if you are doing that exercise 2x a week ......
