Ash,

I know where you are coming from, but if I make it much bigger then it really distracts from the forum sections and makes the site look a little sloppy. If I can make it bigger without hurting the site design I will, but its not going to be a huge increase

what if you could give the option to make a separate window. therefore, you can keep the size of the shout box the same and have the separate window be as big as possible. almost like a chat room that is connected to the shout box.

If the shout box becomes it's own window, then it becomes a kind of chat room. The main point of this place is the forums. I'd be afraid that people would just use the Shout Box and not the forums, thus defeating the purpose of the site.

I agree. I've used the shoutbox many times when I have quick questions. It can be very useful. But sometimes when the info gets very involved I start to feel guilty, since it is not in a form that others can benefit from easily.
