Suggestions for New Forums?

I am pondering adding some new forums to the site and was wondering what you guys would like to see. As you know I don't censor anything so even if you guys want some XXX forums that could happen also, I don't get my name for nothing :)

Just remember with any suggestions there has to be a big enough need for it so that people will actually post in it otherwise it will just die out.

Sleazy, I don't know if this is possible or would make any sense, but what about some kind of glossary forum?

I notice a lot of people come to the site and have trouble with some of the terminology and abbreviations being thrown around. Admittedly, I sometimes don't know what the heck people are talking about.

I've also noticed that within a lot of the articles we use on our posts, the authors mix up terms and interchange them, which can be confusing and sometimes even be dangerous (say, for example, when describing proper form on an excercise).

It seems like it could be useful to have one place where people could go to look for definitions. I can't really figure what the best way to do it other than people posting lists of terms or asking for definitions of terms. You are the expert.

Like I said, it's just a thought and may not be workable. Or it just may be a dumb idea.:D

I agree, constantly having to describe terms like PWO and others gets a little annoying. I think the best way to do this might be to make a sticky thread somewhere and let people post in it, then once in a blue moon I could take everyones terms and put them in the main post and delete the individual ones. Something along those lines...

Good suggestion though.

Hi, since u are asking for suggestions, i just thought i should contribute...

oh, and i have quite a few...

1.) firstly, the new look is good.

2.) we need a forum for powerlifters: both advanced and beginners. Complete with routines, etc.

3.) it would be nice if there is a forum with many routines posted on it (i mean all kinds of stuff: hit, hst, vince gironda's workouts, arni's specialities, etc), and ANOTHER SEPERATE forum in which people discuss routines, etc

4.) ya... an XXX forum wud be nice;)

5.) a FAQ service... i think u hav records of frequently asked questions - well set up a forum with these questions posted there along with answers.

well, thats all i wanted to say,

i think this is a very nice site...

thanks for creating it... ur doing a GREAT job :D :)

Edited down your font size, please try to keep it in the default :)

On your suggestions:

1) Thanks
2) We have a powerlifting forum already, maybe once it gets more use I will add some sub forums
3) A Routines forum isn't a bad idea. Maybe a subforum where it has all the background info on the routines and the main forum could be used for questions/answers.
4) Thinking about it...want to see what most people here want.
5) Another good idea, just have to figure out a way to do it.

Some good suggestions there, thanks.

That is perfect, Sleazy. I was thinking something like that, although I didn't know how to describe it. Really no need for a separate forum, just a list, but I didn't want to suggest more work for you in terms of putting all the posts into a single list...:D .

Get yourself a womens forum so when women come on this sight they see it and don't think it's just for dudes. Women rule man get em a forum Sleazy baby.

WantingMuscle7 11-19-2005 11:03 AM

About the womens forum I don't know if that'd work but maybe. Theres only like 1 women at the site but if there was a forum for women with routines more may join.

Thats the whole issue im debating, whether or not there are enough.

you can always put one in and try it out. Ive seen them on a few other forums but usually they arent used

Seems like there is a fairly active women's forum over at elitefitness.

What about the Routines forum idea?

Do you think we need a seperate forum for it or is the training section good enough?

maybe if you wanted to make it a sub-section of training

EricT 11-20-2005 11:12 AM

I don't know. It seems like a good idea on the surface, but I'd hate having to go back and forth. A lot of people are getting some really good help doing just the way we are, so I wouldn't want to see anything change in the training forum.

But that doesn't mean that a routines forum wouldn't be cool. Although I suspect we could see everybody and their mother posting crap they read in some magazine somewhere...

Just came up with an Idea

Sleazy, what about a book review section or recommended reading section with a small summary about the book? with out giving away secrets about the book so nobody gets sued for copyrighting.

Reading Dave's journal, I noticed the 15 years of martial arts sticks out nicely. I have also taken martial arts, I did karate for about 5 years and boxing for 2. So maybe a martial arts forum? I don't know what kind of traffic it would get, just another idea.

SLDCHC 11-21-2005 01:40 PM

A woman 's forum would be nice
