Default Glutathione Accelerator

Wow I found this site and can't believe how complicated the answers get involving supplements. You know more than my doctor ever knew. Well this is my first post and I can use some help making a decision whether or not to listen to my doctor and take this stuff MAX/GXL it's supposed to be a glutothione accelerator and its making a lot of health claims (and it's expensive) It's got a website www.maxgxl.com and if I only listened to my doctor (which I rarely do) I'd be begging to buy it. But i'm skeptical because of the claims and from reading some of your answers I think I can get an honest opinion from someone here. There's nothing wrong with me, the doctor just is claiming overall better health and a boost to my workouts. I always find it hard to believe one thing will do all that this site claims. Looking forward to hearing what you got to say.

The ingredients are:
Calcium Ascorbate
L-Glutamine
Milk Thistle
N acetyl Cysteine
N-acetyl d-glucosamine
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Quercitin
Cordyceps

Ok....calcium is good.
Oral glutamine supplementation is pretty much useless.
Milk thistle is good for the liver.
NAC will help increase glutathione levels.
N-acetyl d-glucosamine...don't know, don't care.
ALA is a good antioxidant.
Quercitin is a flavonoid, it helps with inflammation among other things.
Cordyceps...there is actually a cordyceps thread on the forum. I think Hrdgain likes it. Check out that thread.

Overall, this is a very overpriced supplement. Don't waste your money. Whey protein and NAC will boost glutathione levels. I wouldn't worry about it though. There are many other more useful supplements out there. In fact, I would buy Life Support by Anabolic Innovations before I bought this stuff (more beneficial & half the price). The advertising on the site you posted is ridiculous. These are all common supplements stuffed into a pill. All of the ingredients have been around for a while. It's not a new idea.

I'll add:

I believe this is a joint support suppliment, an acetate version of glucosamine.

As for the cordyceps, I wouldn't say that I "like" it, I'm pretty undecided right now. But research shows it to be a good antioxidant and I have seen some improvement in cardiovascular endurance.

For $85.00, I would tell your doctor that he is a scam artist, you can buy all the ingredients in that suppliment in bulk form and get 4-6 months worth for 85 bucks.

Thanks for those details. I had a feeling it was a combo of things I didn't know but could put together at a lot less as far as $ was concerned.
I started to question the validity when I went to the website and saw the way they sold it on the pyramid process.
I go back to the doctor tomorrow and he said he'd give me back all my money if I wasn't satisfied. I'll check out the cordyceps. Thanks again.

I should have been more specific. There are varying studies on the effectiveness of glucosamine. Some like it and some say it doesn't do anything. I take a formula that includes glucosamine, but I don't take it because it has glucosamine. I don't know if it works, and I don't care because it's already in what I'm taking for joint support.

I took Glucosamine religiously for a year because the claims are you need to get it into your system. My job was hard on the joints and it sounded like something I could sure use. It never did a thing for me. It was pretty expensive when it first came out (or maybe tose babies just kept be broke) but I feel it was a waste for me and I never missed a day without it.

If you have joint problems, i would check out cissus, its helped me on occation. My joint problems seem to come and go, especially when it humid out, but you can find cissus pretty cheap so it may be worth a trial run for you.

I complining a small order of some stuff from reading this site and will add cissus to it after I read up on it.
I gotta tell you something. I copied all the answers I got from my post with no source or names and gave them to my doctor....He actually stood there and read the whole thing and had this embarrased look on his face. See, I bought it off of him and didn't realize this was a pyramid scheme to make money. I reamed him out because he has a lot of old people coming to his office and he was trying to get them to buy this stuff and they sure can't afford 85 bucks a month....BUT...they trust him and would do it on his word (oh yeah, he's a Chiropractor so he can't prescribe actually hard drugs) He saw the part about the doc being a 'scam artist' and said he wasn't gonna sell the stuff until he looks into it further. Whatever, but I just wanted to thanks you guys for helping me and a bunch of potential poor people from blowing their money for him to make a buck.
