Default How do you feel about Whey stand gold protein

I am in the process of switching protein shakes, I would like to get the best product for my goal. My goal is mass and gain, true mass and gains without all the calories and bloating. I was reading about Whey Stand Gold seems like a good choice. Does anyone have comments or recommend other product?

I would try to steer you towards something along the lines of trueprotein.com vs. going through ON. As long as you go with a good company that KNOWN for their quality proteins, you can be sure that even their whey concentrate is at least 80% pure protein.

ON 100% Gold standard: Whey is 79% protein per 30 grams (1 scoop equals 24 grams protein). That brand is a mix of isolate, concentrate, and hydroslate..

TP's concentrate: is 77-80% protein per 30 grams (1 scoop equals 23 grams protein) just to give you an indicator of quality protein between the two brands. Same BCAA and glutamine profile between the two as well.

All that being said about the percentages, whey is whey meaning you've bought yourself an hour of BCAA's in the bloodstream as it assimilates. Whey is more anabolic whereas casein is more anti-catabolic. So taking whey exclusively makes sense the most only around training. If you're looking for a MRP between meals, or a good all around blend for whenever, I would go with milk isolate which runs about the same price per pound as whey isolate. The difference is another couple of hours of assimilation with the casein.

What I did was to customize a fast/slow digesting cheap mix. I used 60% milk isolate and 40% whey concentrate and it was a lot cheaper than if I was to go buy 2-3 jugs of ON Whey protein per month at twice the quality.

Question: What were you taking before that bloats you? Are you lactose intolerant at all?

how big would you be if ALL you did was:

Squat 400 x 20
Deadlift 500 x 5
Bench 315 x 5, or dip with 100 lbs added.
Chin with 75 lbs strapped to your waist x 5
Miltary Press 225 x 8

Pretty ****ing big is my guess. Without any "rear delt work".

The only thing that's kept me from true consistently is the shipping prices being very high. But my standard whey just jumped up 4 or 5 bucks at the place I order it from so I will check true next time...if the shipping is still too much I can still get my whey for the old price elsewhere or I'll just try to find a cheaper one. We're talking very small differences in terms of quality. True would be cheapest if the shipping was cheaper...otherwise I tend to save money going elsewhere.

I think it's a lot if you consider their isolate is 92% according to them lol and listed as their main ingredient vs straight concentrate. Now, if you can find ON cheap, then I don't believe it matters. But if you're on the west coast, TP's shipping is cheap and is the same quality of concentrate as ON's isolate/concentrate mix.

To me, even if it's a few bucks more, I absolutely have to have TP's concentrate vs. ON's mix hands down. Nice as thick and twice as yummy!

Right, I understand what you mean in terms of comparing a concentrate of that quality with a mix of isolates and concentrate of slightly less protein percentage. Obviously it would seem like their concentrate is much better then any of ON's stuff.

Like you say, it's just a matter of cost. All I'm saying, and I'm sure you would agree, is that if True cost any one individual a bunch more then in terms of cost effectiveness the slight difference in protein percentage wouldn't amount to a hill a beans. So for me I wasn't talking about a few dollars more and of course I weigh it against ordering it over and over so the difference in cost adds up. With being on the west coast and all that I completely agree and their shipping was supposed to have gone down so I will be checking again. Last time an order from true would have still cost a good bit more than an order from Nutraplanet even without the shipping. Once I added the shipping it was like 20 bucks more at least. I mean if people are ordering just one jug of protein at a time and nothing else, or at least 2 jugs , then they are wasting money on shipping for small orders.

I think my main point is that people try to make a huge big deal about what really comes down to a percentage point or two. Despite the fact that True's concentrate is as good or a little better than ON's mix in the end it really doesn't matter if you save money on one or the other. ON is not the best tasting one out there for sure, though, that's true.

It's just that for me, even a savings of 5 bucks, if I add that up over a year can be significant. I've used ON, but I don't use it now. I'm doing the Dymatise brand right now cuz it's good stuff and the most cost effective for me.

I know we're really both saying the same thing so I'll sum up my main point as concentrate, isolate this percentage that percentage blah, blah...all comes down to the same thing pretty much so the only real difference is total cost and taste/texture.

Having said all that, when they talk about "quality" and "percentages", people are usurally meaning the how well a given protein food is delivered and utilyzed by the body and sometimes the essential amino acids (which most high protein foods contain more than enough of in general). But if someone can get a really high quality CONCENTRATE like True for a good price that delivers as much protein as a mix then I think there may be some real advantages to that. At least that's the theory since it contains all the original compounds, etc. and so on.

For pre and post you might still be better off having an isolate around but a concentrate would still be better immediately pre and post compared to pretty much ANY other protein form so let's not overstate the advantages of isolate. There was a time when there was pretty much no decent whey. LOL, the first protein powder I ever tried seemed virtually indigestible
