| first off, you're doing it right by seeking out info instead of just jumping in blindly. 2nd, the peeps at GNC know jackall about supps... they are there to sell you shit, period. 3rd, as a college student looking to add some supps relatively cheaply. i'd say find yourself a descent price WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE. if thats outta your price range, whey protein concentrate would work. beyond just a whey supplement, some creatine CEE would be a cheap but worthy addition to the mix. beyond that, spend your extra money on FOOD! shoot for 3000-3500 calories /day, everyday. getting in those calories on a consistant basis is whats gonna make you grow. focus on protein and healthy fats while keeping simple carbs to a minimum. |

| Rank: New Member Experience: 2-3 Years | thanks for the quick reply yea i figured that was typical of people at GNC, why i was lookin for a second source. with the creatine CEE do u have any recommendations on a good brand? and the WHEY i figured was a do. so with these would i do the typical loading phase of the creatine first? than go into doing it less? or would i go about taking it a different way? sorry if it seems im askin alot of ?'s just want to go about this the right way! |

| Rank: Lightweight Experience: > 1 Year | From my understanding, creatine monohydrate will be as effective or more effective than CEE. It's also cheaper. And as stated above, stay away from high GI carbs. The calories and the quality of those calories is what's important. |

| Rank: New Member Experience: 2-3 Years | so for the creatine monohydrate any brands that would be better to add than others?? im using 100% whey protein from ON> something i could just add to my shakes would be nice. and about how should i start taking it and best time of day? (i.e like before work out, first thing in morning, when?)... also i have a slight liver problem (nothing serious) and my doctor didn't even want to hear about me taking supplements, was completely unreasonable. any ideas if this might hurt me? and about how much protein would you guys recommend for me to ingest. o and BTW i dropped like 20 lbs since i last posted. oops :-x |

| I don't want to give you advice that isn't good for your health condition, you should heed your Dr.'s advice, or better yet, see a specialist. Maybe he thinks you mean steroids when you said But a scoop of protein before workouts is good, it's fuel for the muscles while they workout. But, a person really NEEDS to take a scoop of protein immediately after workouts. This is one of the times when the body most needs protein. Also, it's a really good idea to take about 30 grams of dextrose or maltodextrin with the protein. They are found in several foods, such as antacid tablets, (just make sure it is the #1 or #2 ingredient on the ingredient list) and by themselves, in powder form. One in the morning is good, also. and, you can finish off the day with one scoop with some cottage cheese, which helps stave off muscle loss at night. Congrats on the weight loss!! |
